NC House Select Committee on Immigration MEETING NOTICE
January 24, 2012 TheDC’s State of the Union drinking game
It’s not like us to take to drinking on a Tuesday. It’s more like every day. But today is special because President Barack Obama is giving his annual State of the Union address to Congress.
And nothing makes us want to hit the bottle more than tuning into C-SPAN.
In order to get you as intoxicated as a tented occupier in mid-winter, The Daily Caller selected the words and phrases the president is most likely to use.
So raise your glasses and prepare your beer bongs, because here it is: The (unofficial) Daily Caller State of the Union Drinking Game:
Tweet Gunrunner now!
Who came up with the idea of allowing guns to be purchased by straw purchasers and then “walked” across the border by smugglers?
Thanks to Bitter for the HTML/Twitter help.
Oppose Enemy Expatriation Act That Strips Citizenship
To quote The New American’s Joe Wolverton II, J.D., on the NDAA’s indefinite detention, “Under the provisions of Section 1021, the President is afforded the absolute power to arrest and detain citizens of the United States without their being informed of any criminal charges, without a trial on the merits of those charges, and without a scintilla of the due process safeguards protected by the Constitution of the United States.” This provision gives the President “absolute power to indefinitely detain American citizens suspected (by him) of being ‘belligerents,'” Wolverton added, for those who had any doubt about the effect of the bill.
To add insult to constitutional injury, along comes S. 1698, the Enemy Expatriation Act introduced by lame-duck Independent Senator Joe Lieberman (Conn.) and Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.). A companion bill, H.R. 3166, has been introduced in the House by Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.). The EEA is a blatant facilitator for new authority that would grant the president the ability to arbitrarily strip citizenship from Americans for “engaging in or supporting hostilities against the United States.” The term “hostilities” means, according to the text of the legislation, “any conflict subject to the laws of war.”
Notice there is no mention of a trial or conviction. A simple whim or accusation may suffice. Perhaps "bitter clingers,” those who don’t support the current regime, differing in their interpretation of the requisites of this Constitutional Republic, may soon find themselves atop a list of those considered hostile.
It simply must be pointed out that in Nazi Germany the second of the Nuremberg Laws stripped certain Germans of their citizenship. Next, eugenics laws were embraced, and from there on the floodgates of incarceration and extermination were let loose. A young German lawyer wrote in 1933 that many were helpless to stop the dictatorial advance as the people had “collectively and limply collapsed, yielded, and capitulated.” “The result of this millionfold nervous breakdown is the unified nation, ready for anything, that is today the nightmare of the rest of the world.” Is this what the United States is becoming?
If you’re not angered over this situation, you should be. If your Senators and Representative aren’t angered by this proposal for the destruction of so basic a founding principle of a free society, they should be. Contact them immediately about opposing S. 1698 and H.R. 3166. Remind them that this kind of legislative proposal was made possible by the passage of the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and the National Defense Authorization Act, a slippery slope many of these same elected officials failed to comprehend.
Thanks,
Your friends at The John Birch Society
N.C.'s debt to U.S. rises
North Carolina's employers are paying more in federal unemployment taxes because the state hasn't paid back the $2.7 billion it borrowed from the federal government to pay unemployment benefits that soared during the recession and its slow-growth aftermath.
The cost for 2011 is an additional $7 per worker. But that's just the beginning.
The tax increases accelerate going forward.
Jon Stewart drills Sebelius on health care law
Welcoming Kathleen Sebelius to "The Daily Show" Monday night, host Jon Stewart told President Obama's Secretary of Health and Human Services to explain the massive health care overhaul in 30 seconds.
"If you could tell us how, against all odds, the Affordable Care Act of American Obamas has saved America," Mr. Stewart said. "Go."
Maintaining a serious tone, Mrs. Sebelius highlighted two key aspects of the law she frequently invokes: 2.5 million more young people are insured and Americans with preexisting conditions can get coverage through high-risk pools.
But she laughed at Mr. Stewart's incredulity after she explained a new requirement that insurers spend 80 cents of every dollar on benefits instead of overhead.
"It's so confusing and just to hear you describe it as a pathway to 80 cents just says to me we need to get you out on weekends to movies," Mr. Stewart said. "They are killing you down there in Washington."
11 stunning revelations from Larry Summers’s secret economics memo to Barack Obama
A lengthy piece in The New Yorker looks at policymaking in the Obama White House. A key source for writer Ryan Lizza is a 57-page, “Sensitive & Confidential” memo written by economist Larry Summers—eventually to be head of Obama’s National Economic Council—to Obama in December 2008. Here’s some of what I learned about Team Obama’s thinking as the financial crisis was exploding, followed by quotes from the memo itself:
1. The stimulus was about implementing the Obama agenda.
The short-run economic imperative was to identify as many campaign promises or high priority items that would spend out quickly and be inherently temporary. … The stimulus package is a key tool for advancing clean energy goals and fulfilling a number of campaign commitments.
2. Team Obama knows these deficits are dangerous (although it has offered no long-term plan to deal with them).
If voting changed anything it would be illegal.
Referendums are a wonderful thing in theory, a direct vote by the electorate, as close to unalloyed democracy as there is. But, astoundingly, referendums are routinely nullified by federal courts. The losing side argues referendums suffer from an excess of democracy, their exact words in one California case, and the court agrees. Apparently the electorate needs protection from itself, we aren't good enough for us. So the regime uses its voter nullification card, you know, the one they deal from the bottom of the deck.
We should learn a deep lesson from this experience: referendums are an expensive, resource-consuming hoax. Voters are trained to jump through hoops like good little dogs just to get what is rightfully theirs, but if our rulers are unhappy with the outcome we get training of a different kind. It's the regime's way of telling us they will not let us decide anything of importance. Referendums are bogus and national elections are bogus. How could they make it more clear?
This is voter replacement.EU becoming less tolerant, NGO says
The most shocking racist attack in Europe last year saw Norwegian Anders Breivik kill 77 people in what he called a campaign to stop the continent being taken over by Islam.
In less-well documented incidents, a far-right mob in Greece in May stormed a Pakistani suburb hospitalising 25 people, some with stab wounds. In April in Hungary, the Red Cross evacuated 277 Roma because right-wing vigilantes held military-type drills beside their homes.
Bonnie and Clyde guns sell for $210,000 at auction
Two guns believed to have been used by notorious US outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow have exceeded expectations at acution.
A fully automatic Thompson submachine gun, known as a ‘Tommy gun’ went for $130,000, four times the estimate. A Winchester shotgun fetched $80,000. Both went to an American east coast collector.
The weapons are believed to have been retrieved from the hiding place of the criminal gang lead by Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow in Joplin, Missouri, during a police raid in April 1933. Back then the criminals shot two cops and escaped, leaving the weapons behind.
Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker terrorised the mid-west United States during the early 1930s robbing banks, and killing people. Bonnie and Clyde and their gang are believed to have killed at least nine police officers and a number of civilians.
EQUIPPING THE GUERRILLA FIGHTER, PART ONE (The Survival Load)
Like his woodsman-scout forebears, the guerrilla carries only the necessities to ensure his survival and combat effectiveness. Additional, unnecessary weight leads to excessive, accelerated fatigue, impedes and slows movement, and leads to a compromising over-reliance on the technology represented by the equipment, rather than his native wit and skill in field-craft.
Soros Threatens Blood on the Streets?
Dominant Social Theme: Soros is very worried about the state of the world, and we should be, too. Maybe Davos will save us! Or the Bilderbergs?
Free-Market Analysis: The Daily Beast is out with an article that ticks many of the boxes of dominant social themes of the elite. As we have often explained, the power elite works via fear-based promotions that frighten the middle classes into giving up power and wealth to globalist institutions.
George Soros has the fear-based stuff down to a science. The article (see excerpt above) is one fear-based meme after another. "Survival is the most important thing" ... "a period of evil" ... "a descent into chaos and conflict."
It should be pointed out that George Soros wasn't always such a splendid spokesperson for the power elite. In fact, for a long time, from what we can tell, he was a kind of rogue trader using the Austrian business cycle analysis he learned at the London School of Economics to make increasingly profitable bets on a variety of currencies.
Paul Craig Roberts Endorses Ron Paul
America has one last chance, and it is a very slim one. Americans can elect Ron Paul President, or they can descend into tyranny.
Why is Ron Paul America’s last chance?
Because he is the only candidate who is not owned lock, stock, and barrel by the military-security complex, Wall Street, and the Israel Lobby.
All of the others, including President Obama, are owned by exactly the same interest groups. There are no differences between them. Every candidate except Ron Paul stands for war and a police state, and all have demonstrated their complete and total subservience to Israel. The fact that there is no difference between them is made perfectly clear by the absence of substantive issues in the campaigns of the Republican candidates…
More importantly, only Ron Paul respects the US Constitution and its protection of civil liberty. Only Ron Paul understands that if the Constitution cannot be resurrected from its public murder by Congress and the executive branch, then Americans are lost to tyranny…
The reason we should vote for Ron Paul is to signal to the powers-that-be that we understand what they are doing to us. If Paul were to receive a large vote, it could have two good effects. One could be to introduce some caution into the establishment that would slow the march into more war and tyranny. The other is it would signal to Washington’s European and Japanese puppets that not all Americans are stupid sheep. Such an indication could make Washington’s puppet states more cautious and less cooperative with Washington’s drive for world hegemony…
A Disgusted Review of the NBC GOP Debate
It was a debate for the ages - or at least that's how long it seemed to last. An audience drugged with Thorazine and NyQuil combined with a Floridacentric thrust and inane questions led to two painfully long hours. I cannot say with certainty that those in attendance were opening their veins in the lobby as they brutally bashed their own heads with mallets to escape the pervasive boredom, but it is almost an inescapable image in which I found refuge while suffering through NBC's vacuous version of a political debate.
House Republican Leadership too Gutless on Holder
Since appearing before Congress, sixty-three congressmen, two senators, two governors and all of the Republican presidential candidates have demanded that Holder resign immediately. In the House of Representatives, eighty-nine congressmen have signed a no confidence resolution concerning Holder’s ability to serve as Attorney General for the nation. When you overlap the two congressional lists (resignation and no confidence), it tallies up to 101 members (just under one quarter) of the House, believe that Holder is incapable of carrying out his job as the nation’s top cop.
Screamingly absent from taking any stance on Holder are Speaker of the House John Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. The two top Republican leaders in the House have remained non-committal on Holder.Taxing food
“In looking back at his administration, Sanford said that his most satisfying moment came the day the day the House enacted the food tax into law. At last, money was available to give substance to the dream.” (The New Day, Sam Ragan, editor, Record Publishing, 1964, page 15)

What a waste of money for Collectivist education.
--Brock
I would guess that Sanford was a Frank Porter Graham disciple, the devoted socialist who collectivized the UNC system. If you wonder why much North Carolina architecture since the 1950’s looks like Soviet factories, thank Graham for hiring Herr Kamphoefner as Dean of the NC State architecture school – who fired the traditionally-trained professors and replaced them with fellow-travelers. These people were all collectivists, and saw no immorality in taxing the food we need for survival.

Household Of Four Making Minimum Wage Has More Disposable Income Than Family Making $60K
Tonight's stunning financial piece de resistance comes from Wyatt Emerich of The Cleveland Current. In what is sure to inspire some serious ire among all those who once believed Ronald Reagan that it was the USSR that was the "Evil Empire", Emmerich analyzes disposable income and economic benefits among several key income classes and comes to the stunning (and verifiable) conclusion that "a one-parent family of three making $14,500 a year (minimum wage) has more disposable income than a family making $60,000 a year."
And that excludes benefits from Supplemental Security Income disability checks. America is now a country which punishes those middle-class people who not only try to work hard, but avoid scamming the system. Not surprisingly, it is not only the richest and most audacious thieves that prosper - it is also the penny scammers at the very bottom of the economic ladder that rip off the middle class each and every day, courtesy of the world's most generous entitlement system. Perhaps if Reagan were alive today, he would wish to modify the object of his once legendary remark.
From Emmerich:
Issa: Assertion of 5th by senior Justice official is indictment of Department's integrity
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa issued the following statement:
