Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) and seven other Democrats have proposed
legislation that would eliminate the possibility of imposing the death
penalty for a range of federal offenses, including several categories of
murder and crimes against the government like treason and espionage.
The Federal Death Penalty Abolition Act,
H.R. 3741,
would end the death penalty for assassination or kidnapping that
results in the death of the president or vice president, and also ends
it for the murder of a member of Congress.
Under
the bill, the death penalty could no longer be used to punish people
for using a weapon of mass destruction, or murder done via torture,
child abuse, war crimes, aircraft hijackings, sexual abuse, bank
robberies or the willful wrecking of a train.
Well I suppose that since those Democrats who are found guilty of treason will live. But so will those who kill them?
ReplyDeleteWe shall take that honor, Sir. :)
ReplyDeleteSo let me get this straight. You live to be an old man, have minimal income and a bunch of health problems. You are about to be homeless. Solution, go to a non-death penalty state and commit some sort of heinous federal crime and they send you to a place where you have 3 hots and a cot, cable TV and free medical care?
ReplyDeleteHeck with some luck you might get Gitmo. Once there you could convert to Islam and you'd be able to order your meals from a menu and bask in the tropical sun.
