A photo that has gone viral while circulating among the online military community shows a man at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, kneeling down on one knee reportedly during the playing of taps, and is sweeping across America, outraging thousands.
Not standing for Taps is incredibly disrespectful.
The picture is sparking intense outrage on social media. It is unclear exactly why the man seen in the photo is kneeling during taps while everyone else is standing, but most people online are assuming it is in protest.

And he will not be happy until there is a tomb of the Unknown Black Soldier. And maybe then, he and his ilk will still not be happy.
ReplyDeleteI was just checking and there are ones from more than one war so it is possible one might be black.
DeleteSomebody should have kicked him right on the side of his head. It makes people smarter.
ReplyDeleteKneeling has always been a form of worship or subservience. Slaves and servants kneel. Men stand. Kings sit.
ReplyDeleteGood points.
DeleteRemove him, or anyone, who disrespects those who have given all from Federal/Military property. Tell them NEVER return to this place of honor, and place them on a list of people who receive no support/monies of "any kind" from the Federal government.
ReplyDeleteI read that he was actually filming the event, but I can find no backup.
DeleteNormally I am not a violent man. I am a vet and I am so pissed off I hope that some one put a bullet in the back of the head of that oxygen thief POS. I do defend that assholes right to protest what ever that POS things is an injustice and more or less in what ever fashion he chooses. However it is NOT an absolute right. Arlington national cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a SACRED place. It is a holy place, to give honor to all who died for this country and its people. There some things that you simply do NOT do. Disrespecting our dead soldiers is one of them.
ReplyDeleteDisrespecting our dead soldiers is one of them.
DeleteWe shouldn't disrespect any soldier who was an honorable man.
The members of "The Old Guard" should have escorted him out of sight of the other viewers and beat him half to death then put him on a C-17 bound for Afghanistan armed with a Colt 1911 and ONE .45 cal. round. That's the only effective way of dealing with such ignorant vial travesties.

DeleteAfghanistan is very lovely at this time of the year. Especially when if viewed from copter with the doors open. Hope he remembers to keep his seat belt securely locked, it would be a shame if some thing were to happened when that copter was buffeted by some strong and unexpected air turbulence. (cough, cough)
ReplyDeleteHe could also take a ride with the Filipino president. :)
DeleteNOT defending this 'person' by any means - kneeling there is just WRONG. I've been to ANC more than once and being familiar with the layout, it seems to me that it was fairly early AM - based on the direction of the shadows. Most likely it was during the Changing of the Guard Ceremony and not at Taps. Still WRONG.
