Fed Injects Record $100 Billion Cash Into Foreign Banks Operating In The US In Past Week

Via NC Renegade

Should be a parody.

Those who have been following our exclusive series of the Fed's direct bailout of European banks (here, here, here and here), and, indirectly of Europe, will not be surprised at all to learn that in the week ended February 27, or the week in which Europe went into a however brief tailspin following the shocking defeat of Bersani in the Italian elections, and an even more shocking victory by Berlusconi and Grillo, leading to a political vacuum and a hung parliament, the Fed injected a record $99 billion of excess reserves into foreign banks.

As the most recent H.8 statement makes very clear, soared from $836 billion to a near-record $936 billion, or a $99.3 billion reserve "reallocation" in the form of cash - very, very fungible cash - into foreign (read European) banks in one week.

The Danger of Attributing Malice to Stupidity

Via WRSA

http://th966.photobucket.com/albums/ae141/TrueTexasRebel/th_1.jpg

I've written on a similar topic before, and it is a little against the grain of popular commentary,  but the quote along the lines of "don't attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity" comes to mind.

I had an interesting week, which brought this into focus for me. I wrote before on this blog about the fact that I still serve in the US Army Reserves, which means that I have to be careful about political comments; the best example being the political office of President also being one and the same with Commander in Chief, thus leaving me open to disciplinary action under UCMJ if I was to be too disparaging about the current incumbent.

When I wrote before, it was about my experiences in the US Military and never really coming across anyone or anything in my unit that would suggest we were suddenly about to become bad guys and go and fight the American public That does not mean that I don't believe such a thing could happen, witness my book 'Patriot Dawn: The Resistance Rises' for an example of what I think about that. How about the guy this last weekend, who had an Obama-Biden sticker on his laptop, and happened to be black. Does he really know what this means and where we are potentially going as a country, or is he just an ignorant sheep voting along emotive lines for what he feels is best?

One of the things I want to say is don't just make assumptions that because someone works for the government  or the military, or an agency, that they are the bad guy. We are obviously going in bad directions at top policy levels and there are many who are, or have the potential to be, stooges  But  not all, and life is too complicated to make broad assumptions.

So here are a few things that happened to me recently, that made me question assumptions a little:

State, Local Lawmakers Rush to Enact Gun Laws Ahead of Federal Controls

Image: State, Local Lawmakers Rush to Enact Gun Laws Ahead of Federal Controls

The battle over gun control is playing out across the nation as well as in Washington D.C., with towns and states considering gun laws they say will protect their residents' rights to bear firearms at a time when many fear the federal government will enforce weapons bans.

The Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence reports more than 1,100 gun-related bills have been introduced in recent months on the state level.

Several communities also are considering ordinances to make gun ownership mandatory, reports Fox News, while others recommend keeping firearms but don't go so far as to require gun ownership.

A town of 140 people in western Maine is another in the list of communities from Idaho to Georgia who decided to require or recommend their residents own a gun.

DHS Censors Information About Firearms Purchase...

Via Cousin John

Amidst continuing controversy over the Department of Homeland Security’s purchase of large quantities of guns and ammunition, the federal agency is getting more secretive about its activity by censoring information about a no-bid contract with Remington for firearms parts.
Despite the fact that documents pertaining to government activity are only supposed to be redacted for national security reasons or if authorized by Congress, a new entry posted on the FedBizOpps website pertaining to the DHS’ plans for a $1.5 million contract with firearms manufacturer Remington contains numerous blacked-out sections.
The document is an explanation of why the DHS has entered into a contract on a basis “other than full and open competition,” in other words a no bid contract. The contract with Remington Arms Company for firearms replacement parts is set to run for five years at a cost not to exceed $1.5 million dollars.
The first censored portion of the document blacks out the precise year by year amount in dollars that the DHS plans to purchase from Remington.

DEMOCRATIC STRATEGIST’S SHOCKING CLAIM: WOMEN DON’T NEED GUNS FOR SELF-DEFENSE, JUST TELL MEN ‘NOT TO RAPE WOMEN’

Via NC Links

This ought to work swell......::)
Appearing on Fox News Tuesday night, Democratic Strategist Zerlina Maxwell argued that preventing rape should start by simply “telling men not to rape women.” She was arguing against women using guns as a means of self-defense when she made the questionable remarks.
Host Sean Hannity began by slamming the “ignorant politicians” in Colorado for trying to remove a woman’s right to use a firearm to defend herself against an attacker via gun control legislation.
“I don’t think that we should be telling women anything,” Maxwell said. “I think we should be telling men not to rape women and start the conversation there.”
“Criminals are not going to listen to that,” Hannity interjected.
“You are talking about it as if there is some faceless, nameless criminal, when a lot of times it is someone that you know and trust,” Maxwell replied.
Hannity pointed out that “evil exists in the world” and women need to know that these situations unfortunately occur.
“We can prevent rape by telling men not to commit it,” Maxwell said, repeating the same bizarre claim.

New Alabama State Record 70 Pound Striper May Be A World Record

Via NC Links

An Alabama resident has reeled in a 70-pound striped bass that shattered a 54-year-old state record and could land the angler in the book of world records for the heaviest striper ever caught in a landlocked fishery.

James R. Bramlett, 65, reeled in the behemoth on the Black Warrior River on Feb. 28.

Bramlett told Joe Songer of AL.com that he credits his wife, Janice, for urging him to go fishing. She was scheduled to undergo a hospital procedure in a few days and would need him to be around and take care of her.

The catch, weighed on a certified scale, exceeds the previous record, set in 1959, by 15 pounds. (Bramlett and his catch are pictured at right.)
