Bank of Cyprus big depositors could lose up to 60%

Bank of Cyprus depositors with more than 100,000 euros (£84,300; $128,200) could lose up to 60% of their savings as part of an EU-IMF bailout restructuring move, officials say.

The central bank says 37.5% of holdings over 100,000 euros will become shares.

Up to 22.5% will go into a fund attracting no interest and may be subject to further write-offs.

The other 40% will attract interest - but this will not be paid unless the bank performs well.

It was known that the wealthiest savers at the Bank of Cyprus would take a large hit from the bailout deal - but not to this extent, the BBC's Mark Lowen reports.

Cypriot officials have also said that big depositors at Laiki - the country's second largest bank - could face an even tougher "haircut". However, no details have been released.

The officials say that Laiki will eventually be absorbed into the Bank of Cyprus.

VERBATIM

Ain’t gonna be no revolution ’cause nobody wants to get in trouble. Keyboard Commandos don’t lead armies.
MT. Top Patriot had an interesting comment over at Western Rifles, posted here in its entireity.
“AM on his recent piece on training:

======================================

LANGUAGE!

I don’t know if my perception is skewed by what I read, but it seems to me that a lot of people in the Liberty movement believe that conducting light infantry style operations will be something that comes naturally.”

That is a good thing by any standards, but, it is standards, based on a life and professional career in a culture steeped in military history and doctrine. And I must say, to AM and others, you all extend priceless insights and knowledge to us outside your military culture, things which as they rightfully contend must at the very least understood in order for Liberty to prevail.

Important aspect is culture IS part and parcel of the crux of things here.

To be frank, at moments I take umbrage from some of the comments, along the lines of a bunch of deer hunters being ineffective in the face of the iron fist of tyrannical powers. Or for example AM’s veiled reference to the Scot’s clannish culture being incapable of obtaining Liberty from rule of England. Ya, true for the Scot’s. Thier 2000 plus years of history, a rather tiny country, never lived in Liberty as in America. It is a clan nation state first and foremost. Millions of Scot’s-Irish came to America to escape the feudal tyranny of the land barons. It is these guys who forged the frontier lands, and where an essential man power of General Washington’s 3 percenters. And the Brits knew them already for the stoutness and individualism they possessed as a people…lot of guerrilla history right there.

I think in many ways the points made from the .mil perspective are most valid in respect to formation of the resistance, and at least are a parable worthy of every serious consideration in our own situation here in this Republic.

But many who advocate the training are guilty of omission, and please, take this statement in the heart felt intention it is given.

There is a mitigating reality to consider in the case of deer hunters and the kind. We have lived in Liberty, it has existed in our culture, it is known commodity so to say. Not so for, in relative terms, almost every human who has walked God’s green earth through recorded history.

You Sir’s, AM, Mr. Mosbey, et all, have been involved in a military that has fought, for good or bad reasons, across the globe, far from American shores, fought for peoples far less fortunate than us American’s who have tasted and lived in freedom. Who are blessed with a system of rule of law and sanction unalienable primal rights, Liberty codified by brilliant far sighted men and woman who understood the evil and violence within man’s heart. You all also have been proxies for the cabel of elites who advance their agenda through pax americana. Not to diminish in the least the honor and noble hearts who go into harms way. But you all, like us on the civilian side have been suckers in the worst way in the schemes and agenda’s of the ruling class.

And this has fundamental bearing on the questions of “Let’s Win”.

I Sir’s, me, regular Joe working stiff, well, I am a decedent of those wise learned people who are our Republics founders. I am a deer hunter also. I am also a man, like so many of my fellow American’s, born of tolerance, it is in my soul this tolerance, it is ingrained in my Liberty, that means I have to put up with a lot from the likes of tyrants, crooks, liars, and thieves, whom constitute the greater part of MY, government. Not because I wish to tolerate the trespasses upon my Liberty and happiness, far from it, but many of my fellow American’s, and in some fashion, myself included, created this monster, the tyranny we face. I have to be tolerant. It what separates us as from savages, barbarians. Which to be frank again, is how I view the political and ruling class. Savages, full of hubris and monumental stupidity, so stupid they can begin to appreciate how ignorant they are.

But I’m digressing here.

I wish to make a salient point here, and I’m going to use AM as a reference.

AM, as you strive to express your perspective through your experiences in things military and politic, which I must say are in my humble viewpoint considerable and endlessly fascinating, you miss something that maybe you can learn from the likes of Deer Hunters and the like, maybe something outside the scope of your life and profession. And maybe I can pass on to you something of great value in return.

I’m a free man.

I’m terribly concerned with the power and tyranny our people of government have usurped. The transgressions, the destruction of something so precious.

Am I afraid?

Why yes.

But not of tyranny and it’s enablers.

I’m afraid of that once the line is crossed, where we turn from a Constitutional Republic, the greatest free nation in human history, into the greatest act of civil war imaginable. The hard bitter, bloody, dirty, ugly, things almost unimaginable right now, it is all a chilling possibility, the specter of it growing closer by the day, and every reason to be tolerant of the tyranny breathing down our necks.
But, and it is a huge but, if it comes to pass, I think your military doctrine is not going to be up to the task of revolution and UW in America, by American’s. It is going to be asymmetrical warfare on a level and a style you, me, or very few can envision.

My point in all this is simple and manifold. It embraces, and is inherent in something that is a part of many American’s. An indomitable spirit, ingenuity, industriousness, creativity, verve, an ingrained spirit of being free and happy. That once the Rubicon is crossed, a paradigm is born within many of Liberty, essentially something in our societal civility is going to come unglued, that civility of tolerance for usurpers and traitors is going to disapear like a fart in a class five hurricane. And once this thing is unleashed, it will be vengeance on the tormentors like the world has never witnessed. A comeuppance upon the ruling class of orders of magnitude. It is going to start ugly and wildly bloody, but being American’s, I believe that indomitable spirit, that ideal of civility, and Liberty, of happiness, of prosperity is going to create it’s own doctrine. And yes, I want to rub your face in it, those Deer hunters and kind that I find disparaging? They prevail in the long run. And truth be asked, if all that doctrine is worth something in the context of the times that come to us, why hasn’t that oath, which you and your brethren in the military have sworn on the bible and to God, and to us Deer Hunters and kind, to the rule of law and Liberty, the oath, which is what made your doctrine possible in the first instance, why are you all sitting on your fucking arses doing nothing while us American’s become cannon fodder for the same government that pays you?

Why, WHY!, are you not using that doctrine and practice what you preach?

Why if you are so smart and learned, haven’t you begun a guerrilla war?

Us deer hunters ain’t stupid. We know whats coming down the pike. We get the shit sandwich from the ruling class shoved up our arses every waking moment.

Doctrine my ass. You want to preach about Doctrine. Well buddy, put your money where your mouth is. While John Mosbey has his ass swinging in the breeze, out in the cold, millions of his fellow .mil brethren, active and retired, are absent. Big fat Zero. What the fuck did you all TAKE THAT OATH FOR? A free lunch, and all the fun toy’s of destruction you could play with? Well you know what guys? You get on us deer hunters about not training, you all got to get behind us. And pounding a keyboard don’t cut the mustard pal.

Hey, this is one fucking huge country. there is a one big ass shitload bunch of arms and logistics in the hands of Deer hunters and kind. You think we are just a bunch of redneck mouth breathers?
Got news, a lot of smart intelligent, crafty mother fuckers, well they have a quality all their own. And something to ponder on that. The ruling class, they are afraid of only one thing. It ain’t islamic terrorists, if anything those child molesters are useful tools and dupes. It ain’t the Russians or Chinese, or the Iranians. Ain’t killer comets or any natural disaster. They ain’t even afraid of the .mil. It is 3 million deer hunters they fear like nothing else. 3 million dear hunters are the existential threat to the elites. It is the only entity on earth with the capability to destroy 150 years of what is for lack of simple terms the 1 world Bankster/Fabian order.

But you are still correct in many ways AM.

This is my rant, and I’m sticking to it. And my guns too.

And maybe, one day, if it drops in the pot, you could be great leader, and men like me would fight for something better than ourselves along side you.

But you need to get off your arse too.

If your serious.

John Mosby shouldn’t be out in the cold. Neither should us deer hunters and kind.

And all you oath keepers too.

It is time. and time is up.”

NC: McCroy Caves To $NAACP$

 Confederate Flag NC Capitol

McCroy is no better than any other one of the Political Correct Crowd. Remember, he wants to shut down Vance and Aycock's Birthplace. He is just another puppet and cannot lead on his own.
 Cousin John

A Confederate battle flag hung inside the old North Carolina State Capitol last week to mark the sesquicentennial of the Civil War is being taken down after civil rights leaders raised concerns.

The decision was announced Friday evening, hours after the Associated Press published a story about the flag, which officials said was part of an historical display intended to replicate how the antebellum building appeared in 1863. The flag had been planned to hang in the House chamber until April 2015, the 150th anniversary of the arrival of federal troops in Raleigh.

"This is a temporary exhibit in an historic site, but I've learned the governor's administration is going to use the old House chamber as working space," Cultural Resources Secretary Susan Kluttz said Friday night. "Given that information, this display will end this weekend rather than April of 2015."

Kim Genardo, the spokeswoman for Gov. Pat McCrory, said the exhibit that includes the Confederate battle flag will be relocated, possibly across the street to the N.C. Museum of History.

Deviled Eggs

Via SHNV

One day when my sister and I were in an antique store, she picked up a deviled egg plate and said, “Since I’m Southern, I probably should have one of these.” Alas, neither of us purchased one. Fast forward 20 years: I spot a nice glass deviled egg plate at Goodwill for $5. But did I buy it? Oh, no, I did not. Then a couple of weeks later I run across that SAME glass deviled egg plate at an antique store and they wanted $50 for it.

Right now you are probably thinking that I spend far too much time rooting through people’s old stuff. And I haven’t even mentioned my new estate sale obsession…But I digress…

I never actually tried a deviled egg until I was well into my thirties. I grew up Southern Baptist, for whom eating Satanic snack food is a sin almost on par with dancing. Ok, I made that up. Baptists eat heaps of deviled eggs (especially around Easter). But the sinful dancing part is true, in case y’all missed “Footloose.”

Can Southern Culture Survive?

By Franklin Sanders

In the early fall, a member of our vast editorial staff took a vacation on South Carolina’s coast, on one of the sea islands near Beaufort. Travelling to gracious Savannah, then surveying the ruins of Sheldon Church in South Carolina that was burned first by the British and then by the Yankees, walking down Meeting Street surrounded by sumptuous, elegant Charleston’s magnificent churches and mansions, hiking the battlefields at Kings Mountain and Cowpens where Southern men (mostly Tennesseans) won the Revolution, passing through the Museum of Early Southern Design Art at Old Salem, North Carolina, and driving through the countryside of Virginia, the astonishing grace and accomplishment of Southern culture surrounded him, but left a hushed question behind.

Is it clean gone forever? Has Southern culture, even the unique folkways and customs of Southerners high and low, disappeared? Or does Southern culture yet live?

Much of it has been replaced with bogus government culture. In every hamlet and county, the Yankee empire has planted “Arts Councils,” which have as much to do with cultivating art as those high-school condom giveaways have to do with cultivating chastity. Government money always decapitalizes the recipient; government help always achieves a result opposite to the one claimed. Government “help” for agriculture has driven farmers off the land, decimated rural culture, and is even now driving the last of the tobacco farmers off the land. In the same way, government art subsidies do not build but destroy Southern culture, replacing our native culture with something shallow and alien. They work exactly as their purveyors intend them to work.

Southerners tend to think of their culture as distinguished primarily by manners, the gracious way we (are supposed to) behave toward each other. But history shows that Southerners have from the very beginning been a people who did all things well, even elegantly.

For the South, the word “culture” brings first to mind Southern literature, from William Gilmore Simms to William Faulkner and Flannery O’Connor. Next music springs to mind. Yet an automobile trip through the South will not be long stretched out before the eyes discover astonishing architectural treasures, and I don’t mean those hideous metastasized warehouse-churches foisted by crazed architects on tasteless church deacons. Dig further and you will find Southern painters, silversmiths, cabinetmakers, quiltmakers, and artisans of every breed and calling. For instance, how many silversmiths were in Tennessee before the War? Dozens, several in every large city. How many are there today? I don’t know of one, but that’s all right. Silversmiths alone don’t make a culture – an appreciative audience is necessary first. Build the audience, and the silversmiths will come.

That’s my great concern: is the cultural audience still in the South? Does Southern culture yet live? Have we given up treading water, fighting to keep Southern culture alive, and resigned ourselves to drowning in the tide of American mediocrity?

Ahh, I can’t speak for the whole South, but I can speak for my little plot in Tennessee. Where these Southerners stand, the South lives and will live, and Southern culture will survive.

Southern culture doesn’t live in the jails of museums, opera halls, ballet stages, or art galleries. It’s too delicate for that. It can only survive in the hearts and minds and daily acts of the Southern people. To imprison it in those alien places would kill it forever.

Maybe your artistry only shows up with a dog and a gun in a canebrake, or maybe it blossoms in your holy kitchen. Maybe it appears in the infinitesimal stitches of the quilts you made for your grandchildren. Or in the hoof rasps you hammered into tomahawks over a smoking forge. Maybe Southern culture still lives in the perfect jar of pickles, or in a ham the likes of which this world has never thrown a tongue over, or in a garden where the rows are so straight that a weed wouldn’t have the nerve to take root, or in the mysterious dance of pointer and quail and Tennessee walker.

Maybe Southern art is in that magical run on banjo, guitar, or piano, in a child’s first crayon drawings, in the stories that pour out of old men like springs out of caves.

Living well is not only the best revenge, it also mothers the best art. When our everyday and necessary tasks arise deliberately from praise and thanksgiving, we offer back to God a dance of joy that not even angels can share.

And that is culture indeed.

Me, dreaming of glass doorknobs...

Yes, folks, Tara may be gone with the wind (or more accurately, fire), but throughout the South you’ll find many a pre-war home still standing. Judging by the variety of coffee-table books and Pinterest boards on the subject, folks really enjoy looking at these not-so-humble abodes. But what’s better than ogling photos or casting admiring glances from across the street? Why, being invited inside, of course! For a fee, but still.

During a spring pilgrimage, Southerners travel from far and wide for the opportunity to stroll the gardens and peek under the dust ruffles of these stately mansions. In all my years living in Mississippi, I can only recall taking a tour once, during which I was shown a “secret” dresser drawer wherein treasures could be stashed. I recall thinking, “Hey, my mom’s dresser has one of those!” Of course, one would be disappointed to discover that the “treasure” in Mom’s secret drawer consisted of birthday cards, old letters, and memorabilia. Her actual treasures? Well, she stored her jewelry in Band-Aid boxes tucked away deep in the cabinets. Sometimes hidden so well, she couldn’t find it herself.

For my mom’s side of the family, the pilgrimage was a time to bust out the hoop skirts and tricorn hats and put on a show. I inherited my fondness for all things fancy from the Lucas’. Two of my mom’s siblings were antique dealers and almost all the rest were regular customers. Every family reunion had a touch of the estate sale feel. But with more casseroles and cake.

“Declare the NRA a terrorist organization and make membership illegal. Hey! We did it to the Communist Party, and the NRA has led to the deaths of more of us than American Commies ever did. (I would also raze the organization’s headquarters, clear the rubble and salt the earth, but that’s optional.) Make ownership of unlicensed assault rifles a felony. If some people refused to give up their guns, that ‘prying the guns from their cold, dead hands’ thing works for me.”
Kaul also had written,
“Repeal the Second Amendment, the part about guns anyway. It’s badly written, confusing and more trouble than it’s worth. It offers an absolute right to gun ownership, but it puts it in the context of the need for a “well-regulated militia.” We don’t make our militia bring their own guns to battles. And surely the Founders couldn’t have envisioned weapons like those used in the Newtown shooting when they guaranteed gun rights. Owning a gun should be a privilege, not a right.
…
Then I would tie Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, our esteemed Republican leaders, to the back of a Chevy pickup truck and drag them around a parking lot until they saw the light on gun control.”

NC: Lawful Citizens Self Protection Act removes certain restrictions for CHP holders...

Last week, Senator Jeff Tarte (R-Meckenburg, GRNC ****) along with Sens Andrew Brock (R-Davie, Iredell, Rowan, GRNC ****) and Shirley Randleman (R-Stokes, Surry, Wilkes, GRNC ****) became the primary sponsors for SB 408, the “Lawful Citizens Self Protection Act”. The bill would expand areas in which lawful Concealed Handgun Permit holders may carry or keep firearms for self protection. The bill makes changes primarily to G.S. 14-269.3 which currently restricts all guns from being carried in establishments where alcohol is sold and consumed, and G.S. 14-277.2(c) which restricts all forms of carry at parades, picket lines, funeral processions and demonstrations.

Another change within SB 408 establishes the legality of CHP holders to lawfully keep and secure their firearms in locked vehicles at their places of work. The bill would prevent business owners from establishing policies which would prevent CHP holders from locking their weapons in their vehicles while they are at work, enhancing their ability to protect themselves if the need arises.

GRNC applauds SB 408's sponsors, Sens. Jeff Tarte, Andrew Brock and Shirley Randleman for boldly stepping up for the rights of gun owners across North Carolina. This bill, along with others introduced in the past few weeks, will greatly enhance all of our abilities to legally defend ourselves in the case of an ever-growing public threat. We urge you to contact the NC Senate Leadership and your State Senator and let them know that you expect their full support in passing SB 408 in short order.
