Respecting All Cultures By Allowing Them to Remain Separate

Having said these things, I will of course be said to be a white supremacist and a racist and all the other markers of very dim minds. Hardly. For one thing, culture is not synonymous with race. I am perfectly content to have people of other cultures and races in the schools of my children, provided that they accept my European-American core values. For another, I am not aware that Koreans, Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese, whom I very much admire, are white, though perhaps with global warming a hotter sun has bleached them.

********************************

Americans have prided themselves on America´s being a melting for so long that few notice that it isn´t. Cultures that could melt did, and those that couldn´t haven´t.

We tend to regard categories such as African-American, European-American, and Mexican-American as political, when in fact they designate unassimilated and perhaps unassimilable cultural entities.

The differences are stark. The United States indeed is multicultural.

Go to a purely European-American community in, say, Idaho or Iowa. You will find clearly defined attitudes toward obedience to the law, the raising of children, toward schooling and acceptable behavior in school, toward democracy, self-reliance, constitutionality, civility, toward law and its enforcement. These qualities are not associated by accident. They closely resemble those found in Denmark and Finland. This is hardly surprising, since European-Americans came from Europe.

Now go to a purely African-American cultural enclave—say, Detroit. Here you will find very different attitudes toward study, behavior in schools, law enforcement, and reliance on governmental charity. Again unsurprisingly, society in Detroit resembles more closely that of Nigeria than of Holland since its people came from Africa and have had no contact with Europe or its values.

Now go to a Latino-American enclave, maybe El Paso, or Berwyn in Chicago. While Latino-American culture has much more in common with European-American than does African-American culture, because of heavy European influence during colonial times, attitudes toward schooling, government, marriage, and so on are distinctly not European-American.

Snowden's Father to Travel to Russia to Discuss Defense Strategy

Edward Snowden's father said Sunday a U.S. plea deal isn't an option for his fugitive son, who recently took asylum in Russia after leaking intelligence information from the National Security Agency.

"I'm not open to it," Lon Snowden said on ABC's "This Week." "At this point, what I would like is for this to be vetted in open court for the American people to have all the facts. What I've seen is much political theater."

Attorney Bruce Fein, also appearing on the show, said he and Lon Snowden have set the date for traveling to Russia to meet with the 30-year-old Edward Snowden and discuss a criminal-defense strategy. When television host George Stephanopoulos said Edward Snowden appeared to have broken the law, Fein shot back and said it is "simply irresponsible" to assume that.

Immigration Campaign Passes by Some in GOP

Image: Immigration Campaign Passes by Some in GOP

Immigration advocates are swarming the country this month, trying to persuade House Republicans to pass a comprehensive overhaul. It was hard to tell at the town-hall meeting that second-term Republican Rep. Andy Harris held recently in this town northeast of Baltimore.

The overflow crowd in the board of commissioners meeting room was overwhelmingly white and older, and booed loudly when one audience member asked Harris to support a path to citizenship for immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally.

Loud applause followed as Harris shot the idea down, calling it "a nonstarter" that's "not going anywhere fast" in the House.

"The bottom line is there are plenty of immigration laws on the books," Harris said. "The House is in no rush to take up immigration."

Harris, a 56-year-old physician and the son of Eastern European immigrants, is in a safe GOP district with few Latino voters, and he's not on target lists drawn up by immigration proponents. So it's no surprise that advocates wouldn't be out in force at his events.

Yet his position is far from unique.

For all the effort that business and labor groups, activists and others who support action on immigration say they're pouring into making themselves heard during Congress' five-week summer recess, there are scores of House Republicans who are hearing very little of the clamor.

Official: Embassy Attack Threat “Had No Basis in Fact”

Via Bill

A high-ranking Yemeni security official has told McClatchy that the Obama administration’s recently announced terror threat which supposedly targeted US embassies had “no basis in fact” and was manufactured merely to dampen opposition to drone strikes.

After initially warning of a terror plot “thought to have been one of the most serious against American and other Western interests since the September 11 attacks,” the US closed 20 embassies and consulates earlier this month, 18 of which reopened yesterday.

The announcement of the threat occurred as it was simultaneously acknowledged that the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi last year was linked to a clandestine CIA arms smuggling operation based in the Libyan city that was being used to transport arms to rebels in Syria, many of whom are allied with Al-Qaeda militants.

Carpetbaggers: A Few Words of Advice From Ocracoke

What's An RVA? Revolting Virginia Asshole? I wonder?

It doesn't matter, the Confederate States of America doesn't need them anyhow. Just who are we offending with our Pomp and Circumstance anyway? In the end it doesn't matter, the occupying forces in Richmond don't have Dixie in their Blood, they are interlopers trying to build the North in the South. They will and are failing, they don't love the warm humid summer nights, they are carpetbaggers, bringing cheap goods made with real slave labor from a country that doesn't speak our language. Southerners are on to their game and building what's necessary to turn the Yankees tail back north of the Mason Dixon Line.

I would explain it, but you wouldn't understand. Do yourself a favor and get your ass back to Chicago where you came from. You don't belong in the South, it's not your heritage. It belongs to those who have blood spilled on the sacred battlefields of Fredericksburg and Gettysburg and Vicksburg. You see the South lost the war but won the battle, they stopped murdering jackasses from continuing to slaughter innocent men, women, and children. The day the North decided to go Nuclear and destroy people instead of Armies. You can't protect everyone and the price was too high. But the South stands ready, ready to reclaim the honor and heritage born of the blood of their hero's. Don't count them out, as time progresses the South will have much to say about how the Nation will be made up after the Rebellion. When the North and South figures out that the real enemy is Obama and the United Nations.

Tweedle Dum & Tweedle Dee: Egyptians Had No Right to Oust Democratically Elected Islamic Tyrant

Via Daily Timewaster

Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham penned an opinion piece today following their disastrous trip to Egypt last week where they insulted the current leadership and coddled the Muslim Brotherhood.

The two Republicans believe the Egyptian people had no right to oust their Islamic tyrant.
Pat Dollard caught this from today’s Washington Post article.

Face It: You're Afraid (Why?)

Via WRSA

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9zOwwtbTnKUiY2vJ-jbBjFqkPxjQg_x-gYn2Bh2ZZqovmvr0VE_dmszLf1Sgm8KBGAboL6NXo2t6xPvJg6HTAoUlyfHkdMhG6dRoG0pJY49321mAPY2H5VmBTjqh9uHtObHAuzj61yZ0/s640/JulianBialowas28.jpeg

One simple question: Why?

Why do you submit to mental control over your life, over your future, over you?

You're afraid of dying.  But death comes to all of us; it is inevitable.  All that is alive will die.  The question is whether you live well as you determine it and whether, when the time comes, you die well, not whether you will die.

It is this fear that leads you to permit the irretrievably-screwed medical system we have in this country to exist.  It is why you allow a hospital to charge $165,000 to replace a battery in an outpatient procedure (that is, you're in and gone in the same day) or half a million dollars to "treat" cancer that in reality might buy you a few more weeks, months or years of life with debilitating self-inflicted injury from the treatment itself, or $100,000+ to put a stent in a cardiac artery -- a piece of metallic mesh that cost $10 or $20 to make.

The fear of not being able to have that at all, and thus that your mortality will cause you to cease living on this earth a few days, weeks, months or years before you would otherwise pass is why you sit still for a system that bankrupts countless people every year and they still die, even though from a standpoint of odds virtually everyone could afford the $1,500 the procedure would cost if you refused to allow this crap to go on.

A large percentage of people support the government sucking up all call records on the premise that it helps "fight terrorism" and even more think that being groped by a government gang at airports that happen to have their fair share of perverts, thieves and criminals among them is perfectly ok as well.

The facts are that a bunch of adherents to a whacked out religious cult murdered 3,000 Americans roughly 12 years ago.  In that same year approximately 50,000 Americans died operating a car in auto accidents and over 100,000 died due to medical errors.  In that single year you were 30 times more likely to be killed by your doctor than by a terrorist.

At the same time we refuse to call Major Hasan a terrorist and his attack a military operation against the United States on our soil because then we must admit that those who were wounded and killed in that attack died in combat defending our nation.  We would have to give them Purple Hearts.  But we would also have to deny the fiction that underlies our fear of terrorism -- that one can be free of such risk if only we give the government enough power.

After all, where is there more concentrated government power than on a military base?
I am not afraid of terrorists -- Muslim or otherwise.  I am as likely to be hit by lightning as I am to be killed by one.  I refuse to be afraid of that -- death -- which is inevitable.
