Crime crackdown compared to slave roundup: Arrests of '32 worst of the worst' leaves this community infuriated

The reporters thought they were the good guys: Chattanooga is one of the most dangerous cities in America, and their series for The Times Free Press was creating pressure for local officials to do something about it.

Just one month ago the paper was bragging about the initial results of its Speak No Evil series: Police arrested “32 of the worst of the worst” in this city of 176,000 and the newspaper obliged by putting their pictures on the front page.

Everyone arrested was black.

IT’S A HATE CRIME IF WHITEY DOES IT: Feds charge white ‘knockout’ suspect with hate crime

The Obama administration filed a federal hate-crimes charge Thursday against a man whom authorities accused of using the “knockout game” to target a black man, videotaping it, and then bragging about the assault to strangers.

The charge marks the first time the administration has taken action on a “knockout” case after the game became an Internet and media phenomenon. It chose a case in which the person accused is white, even though most other cases reported in the news have involved black assailants.

January 4th 2014 – Planetary Alignment Decreases Gravity – Float For 5 minutes! #ZeroGDay

It has been revealed by the British astronomer Patrick Moore that, on the morning of January 4th 2014,  an extraordinary astronomical event will occur. At exactly 9:47 am, the planet Pluto will pass directly behind Jupiter, in relation to the Earth. This rare alignment will mean that the combined gravitational force of the two planets would exert a stronger tidal pull, temporarily counteracting the Earth’s own gravity and making people weigh less. Moore calls this the Jovian-Plutonian Gravitational Effect.

Moore told scientists that they could experience the phenomenon by jumping in the air at the precise moment the alignment occurred. If they do so, he promised, they would experience a strange floating sensation.

2nd Amendment Infringed: Connecticut Citizens Line Up To Register Rifles, Magazines

Via NC Renegade

There are only five more days until the new gun laws go into effect for our state, that means a dash to register assault weapons or high capacity magazines.

A long line of people stood outside of the Public Safety Building in Middletown all day Thursday to register firearms.

Specifically, anything the state considers an assault weapon or a high capacity magazine must be registered before Jan. 1, 2014.

NC: "GUN BAN" SIGNS BREAK STATE LAW

However reluctantly, Winston-Salem, Raleigh and others have fallen into line with the state law that prohibits local governments from restricting concealed carry in parks. After having the law explained to them, and faced with lawsuits for being out of compliance, these locales are removing or appropriately amending signs that had illegally banned guns. GRNC and its supporters, along with its sister organization, Rights Watch International, applied the heat, and the local politicians saw the light.

With this, one would think that other local governments would now have a better understanding of the new statutes and what is required to bring their local jurisdictions “up to code.” Yet, it appears that seeing is not believing for leadership in some towns, so yet again, it looks like heat must be applied.

Elected leadership in Kernersville have failed to make any effort to comply with new state laws regarding lawful concealed carry in parks. This is most likely because of misinformation received from Kernersville Town Attorney, John Wolfe, misinformation that has been repeated by the mayor. Wolfe recently said:

“Remember that Kernersville does not put up signs at every intersection that say you can turn right on red. There are laws that say you can turn right. Where people are allowed by law to carry a weapon they should not need signage. People should be aware of the law.”

Of course, by their logic, if Kernersville followed the parks example for traffic signs, it would have to mark all intersections "no right on red," regardless of whether it was actually legal, and list the ordinance number governing right turns. The result would be the same: Drivers would assume a right turn was prohibited.

So, while using false logic as a shield, Kernersville town leaders are refusing to remove signs like the one pictured below, even though these signs are clearly out of compliance with S.L. 2013-369. At best, these unlawfully posted signs are confusing to law-abiding park-goers, and at worst, they are intended to intimidate CHP-holders into believing a gun ban is in effect, when in fact, these signs are in locations where gun bans are illegal. In short, these signs are just as illegal as they are misleading!

The voters of Kernersville and the people of North Carolina should not stand for this sort of lawlessness from their elected officials. And as always, GRNC is ready to lead the charge to help yet another local government recognize its error, and lead it down the path to legitimacy.

Below, you can read the letter that GRNC President, F. Paul Valone, recently delivered to Kernersville Mayor, Dawn H. Morgan, admonishing her and other town leaders to bring Kernersville into compliance with state law.

Also below, you’ll find contact information and a suggested message that you can use to contact the elected leaders of Kernersville, and let them know that gun owners are watching, and we are expecting them to remove these illegal signs, or face the legal consequences.

Female Marines Not Required To Do A Single Pull-Up

Females in the Marine Corps currently are not required to do pull-ups as part of their physical training, and a deadline mandating that they do at least 3 pull-ups by Jan. 1, 2014 as part of their  training has been delayed for at least a year, the Corps quietly announced on social media.

Unlike their female counterparts, male Marines have long been required to do at least 3 pullups as part of the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). That's the minimum requirement for males.

Female Marines are required, however, to do a flexed-arm hang from a bar, and their PFT score is calculated based upon how long they can properly hang on the bar.  (See video for pull-ups and flexed-arm hang demonstrations.)

1966 Chevrolet Nova SS 327/350 HP, 4-Speed

 F224 1966 Chevrolet Nova SS 327/350 HP, 4-Speed Photo 1
My buddy  had the same motor in his '65 Corvette.  Quick, fun to drive and the four speed shifted like it was in butter, much nicer than the Toploader in my '65 Hi-Po.

The Chevrolet Chevy II was introduced in 1962 as Chevy’s alternative to the economy-oriented Ford Falcon. Although its base engines were 4- and 6-cylinder units, hot rodders and drag racers took an immediate liking to the little car, which was intentionally designed to accept such powerplants as the Corvette’s high-winding 327 CI small block V-8. A largely cosmetic SS package followed in 1963, and in 1964 Chevrolet added a 283/195 HP V-8 to the option list along with a Muncie 4-speed, followed by 250 and 300 HP versions of the 327. But it wasn’t until 1966 that the factory finally reached into the parts bin to endow the little Chevy with real Corvette-grade power in the form of the RPO L79 327/350 HP V-8.

A&E Backs Down

Congratulations, troops.

Arts & Entertainment Network, a little more than a week after announcing it was putting Duck Commander Phil Robertson of the immensely popular “Duck Dynasty” television show on hiatus over some comments he made, is backing down.

The network today released a statement, carried by the Hollywood Reporter, that it is planning to resume work on the programming, with Phil Robertson and the rest of the “Dynasty” cast.

The network earlier had jumped to a decision to suspend Robertson when homosexual activists complained that Robertson, paraphrasing from the Bible, said homosexuality is a sin.
