Vietnam mobs set fire to foreign factories in anti-China riots

Thousands of Vietnamese set fire to foreign factories and rampaged in industrial zones in the south of the country in an angry reaction to Chinese oil drilling in a part of the South China Sea claimed by Vietnam, officials said on Wednesday.

The brunt of Tuesday's violence, one of the worst breakdowns in Sino-Vietnamese relations since the neighbors fought a brief border war in 1979, appears to have been borne by Taiwanese firms in the zones in Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces that were mistaken for Chinese-owned companies.

A police official in Binh Duong province, speaking by telephone, said about 200 people had been arrested.

"We are working on other areas in the province ... We haven't seen any injuries," the official said.
Photographs posted on social media sites and blogs, purportedly of the aftermath of the violence, showed blackened shipping containers, smashed windows and several burnt out vehicles that had been overturned.

Some Taiwanese firms had spray-painted messages on the road and across their gates saying "We Support Vietnam" in an effort to distinguish themselves from Chinese enterprises.

This Is Why They Should Knock First: Multiple Cops Shot, One Killed in No Knock Raid

Killeen, Texas resident Marvin Louis Guy is currently being held at the Killeen City Jail on a $3 million bond for opening fire on a Killeen Tactical Response Unit and a Central Texas Organized Crime Unit that jointly descended on his home at 5:30 in the morning without knocking first to serve a narcotics search warrant last Friday.

Multiple officers were hit. Detective Charles Dinwiddie later died from his injuries.

Based on this excerpt from the Killeen Police Department’s press release, the officers weren’t even going in through the front door:

    On Friday May 9, 2014, just after 5:30am, members of the Killeen Police Department Tactical Response Unit and the Bell Organized Crime Unit were attempting to serve a narcotics search warrant. The TRU was beginning to breach the window when the 49 year old male inside, opened fire striking four officers.

While police may refer to this as a “dynamic entry,” it really just seems like a dumb idea — especially in Texas — or at the very least, a bad idea for a gang of armed men to break in through someone’s window at the crack of dawn and not expect a response in-kind.

White family stalked, pummeled by black mob

 

A family of eight, “just enjoying their Mother’s Day weekend in Savannah,” were savagely attacked by an unknown number of  blacks in the Georgia city, that left several family members injured, including a 6-year-old girl who was “punched in the stomach.”

A report from WTOC-TV said the attack on eight members of a family visiting from Atlanta happened in downtown Savannah on Saturday night.

Family members said they had finished eating dinner in a Savannah restaurant and were walking along River Street.

According to a crime report from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department posted on Facebook, an officer described responding to the family of Rob Gray, his brother-in-law and others.

“All of a sudden,” the police report said, “a black male and a black female forcefully walked through his [Mr. Thomas'] family bumping into him and the small children in his family.”
