Support for Reciprocity Hits New Milestone

The concealed carry reciprocity bill (H.R. 38) has just reached 200 backers in Congress.

With 199 cosponsors, plus chief sponsor Richard Hudson (R-NC), support for the bill has reached an almost unprecedented level of support.

GOA will continue working to get more cosponsors.  And we will continue to encourage current sponsors of the bill to lobby their fellow Representatives to join them in cosponsoring H.R. 38.

It is almost certain to us that we -- today -- have the 218 votes (out of 435) we need in order to pass H.R. 38 in the House.

In the Senate, we believe we're close to the 60 votes we need to break a filibuster.
Bottom line:  There is no reason that we should wait to move this legislation through the House.

If H.R. 38 doesn't move until then, it will be clear to us that Paul Ryan has no serious interest in passing this legislation.

We want the bill to move quickly … sooner than later.

In GOA’s Legislative Action Center, there are two email responses:

Liberal activist who mocked white people on Fox News suspended from teaching

Lisa Durden had a fiery debate with Fox News host Tucker Carlson defending a gathering of Black Lives Matter devotees that banned white people, but then found that she was suspended from her teaching position at Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey.

Durden blames the controversial appearance for her suspension despite the fact she had been on other Fox News shows previous to that one.

In the combative segment TheBlaze reported previously, Durden mocked white people saying, “What I say to that is boo-hoo-hoo, you white people are angry because you couldn’t use your ‘white privilege’ card to get invited to the Black Lives Matter’s all-black Memorial Day celebration! Wow!”
At one point, Carlson cut the microphone to the black activist, who constantly mocked and interrupted him.

Jon Ossoff spent six times more than Karen Handel but complains about 'money in politics'

Down south in Georgia last night, a woman overcame the odds to win a seat in Congress and prove that money can't always buy elections. Unfortunately for Democrats, that underdog named Karen Handel is a Republican.

Her election in Georgia's Sixth Congressional District undercuts the narrative that sexism and money direct the electorate. Biology and a comparatively slim bank account couldn't hold Handel back during the race.

Either Democrat Jon Ossoff wasn't paying attention or he's really bad at math though. Before the special election polls closed, the 30-year-old aspiring boy wonder went on NPR to complain about money in politics.

The Ad Too Hot to Print—Progressive Censorship in Action

The promise of “Freedom of the Press” becomes meaningless when large national “Progressive/Liberal” conglomerates maintain a virtual monopoly on access to newsprint within a given geographical area. Their virtual monopoly provides them with the opportunity to highlight the words and actions of their fellow Progressives while denying those who were slandered or attacked the opportunity to respond. The Nazi Minister of Propaganda, Herr Goebbels, would be proud of the work of modern day Progressive censors/suppressors of the truth.

After a successful vote to pass a Bill in the Louisiana House of Representatives to protect monuments to all veterans, the LA Black Caucus denounced the vote as being evidence of modern day “White Supremacy.” The local newspaper reported this slanderous statement made against all Southerners who love their Southern heritage. The Kennedy Twins decided to respond by placing open letter to the LA Black Caucus in the local paper. The open letter was to be a quarter page paid ad but the paper rejected the ad—in effect they censored or silenced opposition and thereby allowed the slander to remain unanswered. Below is the Ad too “hot” for the liberal newspaper in Baton Rouge, LA to print. Read it and ask yourself if “those people” desire equal treatment for ALL. The Advocate in Baton Rouge turned down a $2800.00 paid ad rather than be fair to the people of the South.  Read the ad and you be the judge.

Statement for the Record Senate Armed Services Committee: Airland Subcommittee May 18, 2017--MG Robert H. Scales, USA (Ret)

Mr. Chairman: Thank you very much for the opportunity to appear before your subcommittee. I’ve waited many years for this moment.

Since the end of World War II the richest and most technologically advanced country in the world has sent its Soldiers and Marines into combat with inferior small arms. So inferior, in fact, that thousands have died needlessly. They died because the Army’s weapon buying bureaucracy has consistently denied that a Soldier’s individual weapon is important enough to gain their serious attention.

The stories are a century old and as new as today. The venerable “Mu Deuce” 50 caliber machine gun, the one most Soldiers use in mounted combat, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2019. Try to imagine any service (other than our ground services) still holding on to a centenarian for a weapon. The M249 Squad Automatic Weapon performed so badly in Iraq and Afghanistan that the last commandant of the Marine Corps wrote a check to get rid of it in infantry squads. He replaced it with the superb HK 416, the finest automatic rifle in the free world. By the way it was a German made HK, not an American weapon, that killed bin Laden..

Hillsdale College: Study the fascinating history of Athens and Sparta in this new on-line free course.

I write to invite you to join me in studying the beginnings of Western civilization by taking a new free online course we launched this spring. The course is called "Athens and Sparta."

When America's founders established the first nation in human history to be based on the principles of civil and religious liberty, they were drawing on a long tradition of thinking about politics and freedom. Back at the beginning of this tradition-at the beginning of what we know as western civilization-is classical Greece, with Athens and Sparta its two dominant cities.

Athens was the birthplace of democracy and the home of the philosophers Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. In Sparta, the martial virtues, including the virtue of courage, were mastered. A careful study of these two cities-including the great Peloponnesian War, in which they came into conflict-reveals timeless lessons about politics and human nature.

I introduce and conclude the course. Hillsdale College history professors Victor Davis Hanson and Paul Rahe teach the bulk of it. They know the classical world as deeply as anyone alive today, and they are riveting teachers.

I hope you enjoy the course. You can start your course here >>

Newsweek Writer Uses Phony Statistics to Support Gun Violence Report

Via Billy

Top causes of child death, ages 0-14, per the CDC 2014 report:

  1. “Certain conditions originating in the perinatal period”, 11,895
  2. “Congenital malformations,  deformations and chromosomal abnormalities”, 5,493
  3. “Symptoms, signs and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings, not elsewhere
        classified”, 3019
  4. “All other diseases”, 1846
  5. “Other and unspecified non-transport accidents and their sequelae”, 1427
  6.Transport accidents, 1302
  7. “Malignant neoplasms” (cancer), 1225
  8. Cardiovascular diseases, 903
  9. “Assault (homicide) by other and unspecified means and their sequelae”, 667
  10.    Accidental drowning, 647
  11.  All firearm related death combined, 459

Writer Ryan Bort has been caught red handed promoting phony “gun violence” statistics in a recent #FakeNews story for (the failing) Newsweek, claiming that guns are now the third leading cause of death for children. The story seems to be based around a report by a journal called Pediatrics, but Bort never actually provides a link to the report that he continually references. Instead, he gives links to the CDC and another organization called National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS), which the Pediatrics article supposedly sourced for their report.
There’s just one problem for Mr. Bort; His numbers are all wrong. And it’s not even close.

Canada's New All Inclusive Gender Term

Via comment by Anonymous on Canadians Could Face Hate Crimes Over Using The Wr...

This gender identity/expression is a mental disorder. If you have a mental disorder you need to be treated and cured. But, no, the radical activists and liberals instead are doing their utmost to encourage more people to become mentally ill. There are two and only two genders/sexes; male and female. Period. Any thing else, the old fashion, politically incorrect term was pervert.
Imagine being confronted by a woman who, obviously is suffering from anorexia, demanding, and has the full force of law that you fully agree with her "body identity" that she is too fat and needs to lose even more weight. And, since she is member of the special protected class known as a "victim" she also demands that you pay for her weight loss programs. Insane.

Weaver: Should you find yourself in Canada, may I suggest an all inclusive gender term? It is a combination of the current gender terms; S for she, H for he and IT for it. SHIT. There, a single, very easy to pronounce and spell, word for all genders (real and imaginary). Now you can go to Canada and enjoy yourself without the fear of offending any one by using the wrong gender pronoun. My good deed for the day is done!

Claremont McKenna Students Who Shut Down Speech Facing Possible Expulsion

Claremont McKenna has told six students who tried to shut down a speech by Heather Mac Donald that they face suspension or expulsion, their lawyer told local media.

The university has completed its investigation report, and on Monday, it began disciplinary hearings for at least two of the protestors.

Mac Donald, a pro-police author who has written critically about Black Lives Matter, was scheduled to speak at Claremont McKenna on April 6. Around 250 students attempted to block the entrance to the auditorium, chanting “shut it down” and “f*ck the police.”

President Trump slammed the Democratic Party Wednesday morning for what he described as a failure to work with Republicans in Congress.

"Democrats would do much better as a party if they got together with Republicans on Healthcare,Tax Cuts,Security. Obstruction doesn't work!" Trump tweeted.

On a policy front, Democrats and even some Senate Republicans have complained in recent weeks about the secrecy of changes being made to a healthcare reform bill by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's office. A draft of the bill is expected to be released Thursday morning.
