It's the only way to go.
NOTE: This article is intended to be a basic rationale for the use of hollow point ammunition. It is not an exhaustive, ballistics-tested study on ammunition/bullet effectiveness.
My recent article on the plight of Shaneen Allen, a 27 year-old medical professional and mother of two arrested for possession of a handgun and hollow point ammunition in New Jersey raised quite a bit of commentary on hollow point ammunition restrictions. Allen was merely visiting New Jersey when stopped for a minor traffic violation. She politely informed the officer she had a handgun in her glove compartment, and her concealed carry license in Pennsylvania availed her nothing. She is facing up to ten years in prison . . .
New Jersey law doesn’t absolutely ban hollow points, but makes it virtually impossible to use them for self-defense outside the home. One may own hollow points in their home or property, but only “sportsmen” are allowed to transport them, but their guns must be unloaded and the ammunition removed and kept separate, and even in some circumstances, locked up. In addition, one must go straight to and from their range or hunting area and have a valid hunting license. The New Jersey State Police have a helpful article on the issue available here.
In other words, in the name of public safety, New Jersey makes the use of the most effective and safe handgun ammunition all but impossible outside the home, particularly for self-defense, and actually endangers the public. The laws are so convoluted and nonsensical that most people would be wise to avoid hollow points–even gun ownership–entirely. No doubt, that’s what New Jersey politicians intend.
Why are such draconian restrictions on hollow point ammunition dangerous?

The entire northeast is turning into a Bolshevik wasteland. I'm surprised people don't vote with their feet. Maybe they all have Stockholm Syndrome. Well good, stay up there, we don't need it spreading down here.
ReplyDeleteWe'll take the kindred souls, but no others, please.
DeleteIt is the same mentality as "hate crime laws".If a person makes the effort to point a loaded weapon at another human being and pull the trigger in their self defense does it really matter that a FMJ will kill one just as dead as JHP? No, just as a human being killing another human being should not be greater crime if the person being killed by an aggressor is a Sodomite, black, hispanic, muslim, jew, etc (if one looks upon the court record since the "hate crime laws inception, one can see that only in rare circumstances does hate crime legislation apply to white people or Christians). This is just another technicality to harass, segregate, disarm, and to arrest gun owners. I can't wait to see see what the fate of WASP's is going to be when this regime has their version of "Kristallnacht".

ReplyDeleteThat should be the end of passivity.
Yes, it is the only way to go, since the evil PTB are determined to deprive and punish me for having it. Ergo, it is a must have item.
ReplyDeleteThere are parts of the FUSA, that if one continues to live there, I have very strong concerns and doubts regarding your sanity and common sense. Live in New Jersey? Why? I have to admit that I live in one of the pits of sin, iniquity and corruption; the Peoples Democratic Socialist City of Minneapolis MN. I love the area where I live and am loath to let the progressive barbarians fully over run the place. As for my other defense; all I can offer is, well, at least it is NOT New York City!
To any liberal who might be reading this; Warning, Stay away! Yes it is that cold. MN is so cold that even Canadians fear to tread here.

Kristallnacht will be here sooner than we think. I always thought we had until 2016 before Obama seized power. Recent happenings have me wondering if we will survive 2014.

We shall see. I remember as a kid hollowing out the points of our .22's. I imagine others did also.
DeleteBrock, .22 LR HP was so cheap and plentiful back then that I just bought it. No need to do the hollowing at home. CH
ReplyDeleteLR was a luxury and we usually only had shorts. :)
DeleteI just don't remember them being very expensive and I certainly wasn't rich. I never had an allowance and the money I made in the summer working in tobacco went to buy my school clothes. IDK, maybe my dad was picking up the tab for my .22 habit but it seems to me like they were cheap, like as in the price of a Pepsi and a honey bun. My memory may be slipping.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they were, but shorts were cheaper.
