The 35.4 Percent: 109,631,000 on Welfare

109,631,000 Americans lived in households that received benefits from one or more federally funded "means-tested programs" -- also known as welfare -- as of the fourth quarter of 2012, according to data released Tuesday by the Census Bureau.

The Census Bureau has not yet reported how many were on welfare in 2013 or the first two quarters of 2014.

But the 109,631,000 living in households taking federal welfare benefits as of the end of 2012, according to the Census Bureau, equaled 35.4 percent of all 309,467,000 people living in the United States at that time.

    1. Good question. The Vietnamese Piasters was still being exchanged, at much reduced value, on the day Saigon fell

  2. This is one of the main reasons (other than fuel costs) food prices continue to climb. The system we have now is not "supply and demand" While working people have to scan sale papers, clip coupons, buy meats only when they are "sale" priced, the free stuff people buy over priced items regardless. In a true free market system vendors would be forced to lower their prices or find ways to produce a particular item at lower costs because sales would eventually be lacking. Not much make me angrier than to be in line at the grocery store with my weekly forty dollar armload of staples (i.e. bread, milk, eggs, bologna, etc.) and some welfare rat who is dressed to the nines is checking out in front of me with two buggy loads. When the cost is totaled, the rat whips out the vaunted EBT card and pays usually around $400.00 I (have seen in excess of $600.00 with two people paying with cards). Then I watch in disgust as they dig through their purse/wallet and pull out $100.00 bill and buy two cartons of cigarettes. If that is not enough of a slap in the face, I watch as they roll out to the parking lot and load the groceries into a brand new $30k SUV. Of course it has a handicap tag and is parked in handicap parking. Nine times out of ten the person is as healthy as a horse and just as able to work as I am. The icing on the cake is the fact that the banksters has the vast majority of people paying with plastic (either debit, credit, or EBT) and you can bet THEY are getting their 2% (on avg.) each time a card is swiped.

    1. I witness this all the time here In mostly white small town mid WI where I live. Often I see folks buying the very best meats and name brand foods with the link card and then a jug of Captain morgan, carton of smokes and case of beer. My wife and I both bust our butts for our money and its budget brand goodies from Aldi's and if we want steak its deer meat. My aunt used to say that a bar of soap that you bought and paid for with your own money will keep your rear end cleaner than three bars of soap that someone gives you.

    2. I would have appreciated your Aunt.

I mentioned this the other day, that whites have almost the same percentage on welfare now as blacks. This has to come to a screeching halt, immediately.

    Saw a bumper sticker
We breed 'em. You feed 'em.

Entitlement breeds contempt. Aid breeds dependence. Its time to stop this gravy train and return to shaming those who wont pull their own weight.
And thanks for posting that last rancher trailer. After they are done w/ranchers they will kill off the rest of farming. Ca is already circling the bowl.

    2. While I agree with you, I dont know how to shame someone who has no pride to begin with. When you pay a man once a month not to work, you kill his motivation and pride. Our govt started with segregating the Indians and giving them a monthly hand out to keep us apart. Then they did the same with the negros. This has been going on for over 160 years and it dont work. The democrats keep people dependant on the govt so they can get the recipients votes. The true "racists" of our society are the democrats.

I don't either, I didn't mention it as a course of action. My thoughts were that "welfare" became acceptable as soon as they took the shame away from it. Using plastic, getting handouts are now the accepted norm. Not striving for excellence (because we all get trophies in school for just showing up) is the new status quo.

And maybe pride is not the right word. Pride is one of the 7 deadly sins. When homosexuals talk about "gay pride" it gives some a visceral response because it's the wrong course of action. Abortion - celebration of murder as some "right" to kill an inconvenience in one's life.

The foundation of our society is built upon the 7 deadly sins; lust, greed, sloth, avarice, envy, pride and gluttony.

I don't know how to change this, unless we destroy everything first and start over.

I don't know. I can't even function anymore without an intense feeling that we're doing it wrong. silence is acquiescence.
