A U.S. federal appeals court has ruled that Connecticut police cannot claim immunity to quash lawsuits seeking millions of dollars in damages from a botched 2008 raid by a SWAT team that severely injured a homeowner and killed his friend.
The decision by the U.S. 2nd
Court of Appeals in New York clears the way for a judge to decide
whether five suburban Connecticut police departments violated the
constitutional rights of homeowner Ronald Terebesi by using excessive
force.

ReplyDeleteHopefully.
DeleteUnfortunately it is the taxpayers that will ultimately suffer. Until these clowns are held personally accountable and the penalties come out of their own pockets, it dosent mean a thing. Unless of course the taxpayers get tired of it and rebel.

DeleteAgreed, but it could change the rules, possibly.
In colonial times, there was no police force because people were expected to defend themselves. There's was no expectation of safety. Traveling on roads, it was expected that you were armed and ready to defend yourself from harm.
ReplyDeleteGiving your word, meant something. You didn't go out on a boat or into the wilderness and expect an army of people to come to your rescue because of your own stupidity.
Today, the learned helplessness and Stockholm syndrome is so prevalent, people are calling 911 when their fast food sandwiches are not made correctly.
People cant' work out their own differences or beat the crap out of Joe Schmo neighbor (who deserves it ) or the deviant who rapes children, etc, because of lawyers. Because the justice system is supposed to punish the evil doers. Except that they are not anymore. Judges are corrupt, law-makers are corrupt, peace officers are corrupt.f People are corrupt. Or apathetic.
The bankers are soon going to seize what little wealth we have left.
We have pigeonholed ourselves into doing nothing in the face of evil due to the consequences. By keeping "civil society" we have swung the pendulum so far the other way, that evil is no longer under cover of darkness. It operates brazenly, openly in the light, - in our faces and we do nothing.
There is going to get much, much worse.
Excellent, very perceptive.
