Quality control

Thinking outside the box.

It would be nice to have some. Of the guns I worked with this year, perhaps 40% either arrived non-functional or partly functional, or failed within fifty rounds. While that’s skewed by the high percentage of prototypes I encounter, enough of the production guns are unusable to make me wonder. I am becoming a big fan of bayonet mounts for rifles and backup pistols.

  1. Sad to say but Ive had some crapy experiences with new in box american rifles. Most I can correct (but shouldnt have to.) The most hastle free companys seem to me to be Ruger and S&W. The QC really seems to have gone down hill for the big bolt action and lever action (American made and owned by same corporation) companies.

Too bad and I hadn't heard this before.

  2. The Lever company that we know starts with an M changed manufacturing facilities in 2011. The ones Ive seen have been rough and in more than a few cases very inacurate. The bolt commpany R (and not Ruger) has had QC issues for the past 15 years or more. We recieved 3 new bolt guns from this company some years back and all 3 were bored off center. Took many months to correct this situation with R. Not saying they are all bad but for what we pay they should come out right the 1st time.

      Absolutely, as in all things.

  3. I have yet to hear any one whine about QC with their Mosin-Nagant. Big, heavy, 5 round, bitch of a safety to use,you bet. Same with the Swedish mausers. America and its' culture is in decline (death spiral) with the quality of just every thing in decline. It seems our fire arms companies seem to be more concern with quarterly profits and PR image than putting out a quality product every time, hoping the glory of the name will be enough.

    1. The only problem I've had with the carbine version was that it would not feed, d/t...broken shell still stuck in the chamber. Lesson learned, Examine the barrel from BOTH ends.

  5. Is Oleg saying Glock quality is on the skids too? Hard to tell what his point is. Hadn't heard that if so.

    3. Thank you, Sir(s). My Glocks rock too, but I haven't bought a new one in some time and haven't kept up with events.
