I'm sure. :)
DeleteA friend of mine owned one new and I've ridden in it. His was modified beyond
ReplyDeletewhat a "stock" L88 was and was without a doubt the fastest street car I'd ever
been around. Of course todays Corvettes and many current street cars are much
faster and quicker than the best of the "muscle cars" but that Corvette was very close in terms of top speed.
I grew up in an area where most street racing was top end on a 3 mile long straight
stretch of 2 lane highway. When the lights blinked and the race was on from a 100 mph rolling start that L88 was still in 2nd gear. The guy was not a regular racer. He'd stay at home on Sat. night unless someone came to town that no one else could outrun. Then they'd go wake him up. CH

DeleteInteresting, a 1/4 miler myself.
There was some 1/4 mile in our area too but the big grudge races were settled top end. Most of the hardcore guys had 2 rear ends and two transmissions and swapped them out as necessary.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThank you guys for your interest. This is my car, and it is a beast! I've loved it for several years now and I'm excited to see other people get excited by it.
ReplyDeleteThank you and I'm sure you're sad to see it go.
