The Battle of Khe Sanh began on January 21, 1968, when forces from the People’s Army of North Vietnam (PAVN) carried out a massive artillery bombardment on the U.S. Marine garrison at Khe Sanh, located in northwest South Vietnam near the Laotian border. For the next 77 days, U.S. Marines and their South Vietnamese allies fought off an intense siege of the garrison, in one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War.
In response, General William Westmoreland, commander of the U.S. forces in Vietnam, was ready to use nukes..

Watched that one on TV. Wonder where we'd be today if we'd popped off just one (or two) suitcase Nuke?
ReplyDeleteDon't know, as commies aren't as crazy as muslims, but I'm sure it would have made them do some serious thinking.
ReplyDeleteMy uncle was there. Actually showed up after things started. He was in the Seabees and had been ordered to take his dozer to help out.
ReplyDeleteAfter the dozer was blown up on the trailer in an ambush, he was able to disconnect the trailer and make it in to the base in the shot up truck.
He just won another battle from Vietnam -- with cancer. Docs told him the gift from Monsanto and Agent Orange was completely gone, on Christmas Eve.
That's great and I wish him luck, but just because they tell you so, doesn't necessarily mean it's true.

Congrats to Uncle! Give him our best wishes for his continued recovery.
ReplyDeleteReading your article on NamSouth, i.e. CA, how did you prepare the
Deletegrass for nausea? Grass is difficult to masticate and swallow.
Sorry to hear you went through this devastating diag. But pleased
all is well.
I smoked it as I was under Cobalt only and had my voice box. It was not until 1995 that it was removed. Of course, if you still wanted to inhale any substance you could do so though the opening in your neck. Kinda' hard core there. :)
DeleteThanks. I didn't even think of that grass. I was thinking of grass on the
Deleteground as animals, dogs/cats, eat grass when their sick/nauseous.
Hard to believe the US doctor misdiagnosed you. Thank God you knew
better..
Thanks and he was just the one doctor at the Embassy.
