Evidently it broke the line. Too bad. I used to keep Bonita guts in coffee cans in the freezer. When we went shark fishing. I would poke holes in the top, trail them in the water behind the boat while making a large circle. A huge Great White started following and I got it to take fish heads on a chained hook, but he broke it. Got some big ones off of Dana Point. They caught a 4,000+ pound one off of Catalina, pulled it backwards from the boat to Dana Point and it was still alive!
Yes, I had my .357 ready to finish him off, but never got a chance. Forgot: When my buddy saw that I had hooked the shark he exclaimed cut the line! Ding dong, the reason we're out here is to catch one. :)
