Don’t let your eyes deceive you. This Chevy II/Nova look-alike is actually a Chevrolet Opala, a mid-size car unique to the Brazilian domestic market beginning in 1969. Since the language of power and speed are universal, no translator is needed as we watch this 1,500 horsepower early-gen Opala tear it up on the track at Speedway Music Park in Brazil.
The dragstrip at SMP is only an eighth-mile long, but this car, nicknamed “Opala Metal,” has previously achieved a 6.9 second quarter-mile.
