The culture war against Christianity is picking up speed.
Last week came word Saint Louis University will remove a heroic-sized statue of Fr. Pierre-Jean De Smet S.J. from the front of Fusz Hall, where it has stood for 60 years.
The statue depicts Fr. De Smet holding aloft a crucifix as he ministers to two American Indians, one of whom is kneeling.
Historically, the statue is accurate. Fr. De Smet, “Blackrobe,” as he was known, was a 19th-century missionary to Indian tribes who converted thousands. A friend of Sitting Bull, he spent his last years in St. Louis.
And as the mission of this Jesuit university is, presumably, to instruct the Catholic young in their faith and send them out into the world to bring the good news of Jesus Christ as Lord and savior to nonbelievers, what exactly is the problem here?

Brock, first let me state the obvious; we now live in the FUSA. The FUSA, like the worlds empires and great nations of the past is in decline. The country and culture that we were born into, is now lost and gone forever. As the veneer of civilization wears off, those who hate Christianity are more emboldened and open in their attacks on Christianity. Jesus, himself gave the warning to his followers that if the world and TPTB hated him, they can expect to be hated as well.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, if I am to be hated because I am a Christian, then may I be truly worthy of that hate. I consider it an honor to be hated because of my faith that Jesus is the Christ! I could be wrong here, but I do believe that we are currently living in the Biblical End Times. Exactly where on the time line, I don't know. It is going to get much worse.
Hate will be returned three fold here. Doesn't bother me one iota. Thank you mother.
DeleteTo hear real Confederates give the Rebel Yell was a bloodcurdling sound. Richard Bales group's rendering of this is like a lullaby in comparison. To hear our own valiant, brave soldiers made us want to pick up a gun and kill the first Yankee in sight.

I believe this is the same Fr De Smet who was in this area for many years and worked to convert the local tribes. There is even a tiny town south of me that is named DeSmet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. You wouldn't think there would be two. :)
DeleteCurrently reading John Hagee's Four Blood Moons. (Something's About To Change)
ReplyDeleteHe builds a powerful case for BIG events this fall. CH
Thanks and we shall see.
DeleteIf the $20 dollar bill should change faces to some odd- ball, I will scribble it out with
ReplyDeletea black marker like I do the 'all seeing eye.' This is all NWO crap, wiping out
religion, esp. Christian. I intend to live the way I grew up. This is really an outrage
and should be snubbed. The philosophical battles being waged today regarding
the encroachment upon liberty and State autonomy by the central gov have their
roots in filthy Lincoln's autocracy.
Amen to all. Thanks.
DeleteThe bottom of the gutter is far deeper than I would have ever guessed. As a skeptical observer of human nature I could see this coming in the mid 90's and thought it might exceed the moral perversion of the 60's but did not think it would get there so fast. And we have miles to go before the bottom. Uuggh.

DeleteGood point.
