Episcopalians voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to allow religious weddings for same-sex couples, solidifying the church's embrace of gay rights that began more than a decade ago with the pioneering election of the first openly gay bishop. The vote came in Salt Lake City at the Episcopal General Convention, just days after the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage nationwide. It passed in the House of Deputies, the voting body of clergy and lay participants at the meeting. The House of Bishops had approved the resolution Tuesday by 129-26 with five abstaining.

ReplyDeleteNot really a surprise here, unfortunately.
Deleteand they will go the way of the United Church in Canada. Invite gays, the real Christians stay home! Churches close and congregations move to a real Christian denomination.
ReplyDeleteGood riddance to bad rubbish. Maybe this will cause more to join the new Anglican church. My mother left when they changed the Prayer Book. :)

Thanks and par for the course, unfortunately.
DeleteIt's already started happening to the Episcopal church, it will get worse now.
ReplyDeleteI know of two Episcopal churches in this area that split over liberals running the Episcopal Church. Just look around, if you see an Anglican Church in your area
that is less than about 10 years old, those folks split off from the Episcopal church.
You know all of this degradation of the Church started when we let cowards have exemptions from the Vietnam war if they were preachers or studying to be preachers.
These liberal preachers in their 60's and early 70's are to a large degree draft dodging, dope smoking hippy types who were too cowardly to fight for their country and to lazy to run off to Canada.
For the record, I didn't serve but it's because the draft board gave me a 4F due to bad feet. I didn't ask for it either. All I did was check feet on the medical history sheet like my mom made me promise to do (YOU TELL THEM ABOUT YOUR FEET). So, I checked the box, then made it all the way through the exam and the last Doc threw me to the curb. CH
Thanks.
DeleteI am happy to find this blog. I am presiding bishop of the Anglican Orthodox Church (AOC) headquartered in Statesville, N.C. We came out of the Episcopal Church in 1963 having seen the writing on the wall of liberal trends toward immorality and socialism. We were the first to leave ECUSA in the modern era. We adhere strictly to the Thirty Nine Articles of Religion of the Reformation church of England and take an uncompromising stand on biblical marriage and morality in all walks of life.
DeleteI am praying that the individual states will re-assert their Constitutional rights to determine the laws that apply peculiarly to the principles and faith of the people of their states. States rights was the primary factor that led to the War Between the States. It still continues!
Thank you, Sir and could you list your churches in NC and Virginia? Thanks.
DeleteWhile this is not at all surprising, it remains personally distressing. Having grown up in Protestant Episcopal Church, and having observed its decline into its current form via its rejection of the Anglican Articles of Religion and the 1928 Book of Common Prayer, as well as its assumption of authority over the plain meaning of Scripture via the ordination of women and the ordination of an open homosexual as bishop, what was left?
ReplyDeleteThose of us who are "traditionalists" and/or "fundamentalists" for the most part have left the EC for Anglican-based churches--- such as the Anglican Orthodox Church--- which adhere to those sound tenets of the Christian faith and are not bound by the cult of PC.
Well, this should separate the real Christians from the hypocrites.
ReplyDeleteSo much for the high stands of the Episcopal church.
My brother left one Episcopal church for another d/t the liberalism in one.
Some things one just can't condone.
Thanks.
