"I
have been advised that my news story and picture are front page news on
both major papers in the province of Saskatchewan this morning. This
will have a serious impact here, I have not yet seen the article.....I
work all day and will tonight. It's apparently being carried by Saskatoon Star Phoenix and Regina Leader Post.
Again, I would hope that what is reported meet with your approval and support. Take care for now."

A Saskatchewan man says he filed a human rights complaint because negative media coverage of the Confederate flag debate is discriminatory and promotes hatred.
He takes great pride in his Southern U.S. heritage and sometimes displays the Confederate flag on his vehicle, although he's more reluctant to do so given the intense debate about the controversial symbol, he said.
For Pippin, the flag represents his family roots and the sacrifices his descendants made fighting in the Confederate army during the American Civil War; for others, the flag represents a legacy of slavery and proracist views.
"Racism and hate have been linked to the flag for far too long and it's incorrect," Pippin said in an interview, noting history is filled with "bad instances" when people have linked themselves with other symbols.

Hello Brock,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the coverage and support! Wow. I asked for 24 hours grace to gather and ready for interviews, and had to have a chat with a cousin here.
I am 40, and a younger cousin obviously got some grief in Saskatoon today. He emailed me this afternoon and I needed to communicate some pertinent messages to part of our family here.
Ever hear about the fellow of southern descent that was asked to show up with a Confederate flag for a photo shoot, but shows up with a war replica Confederate saber instead? :) Went well!
While I realize each day will be an adventure in itself, thought I'd take a moment on the first day to again say thanks. I look forward to working with you in the future, and will be in contact soon regarding when I might be able to come and visit. Take care,
Dale

well said, we as Canadians are being pushed back and around by anyone who has a whim of a 'good ' idea. we no longer get to sing oh Canada in our morning assemblies in the public schools..might offend someone ? what country are they in ?? oh and no more prayers to God, might offend someone ..
Canada was a Christian nation built on these values..but every time someone has a new idea or yells out that it offends them we the public, don't have a say and it gets shut down. our country is falling apart year by year all in the hopes we all intergrade into one without any ideas or values of our own.
we allow some to have their rights while others get bashed and told not to have any rights. keep your flag flying and be proud of your history. if we all took a deeper look into our history we might find things we do like and things we don't like but it is not our right to bash others nor take their family history away from them at all.
those who judge others think they are higher and better by portraying they are doing the right thing. who said they could judge without even knowing all the facts.
it is a shame and a embarrassment that our radio and tv personalities don't find out more facts before mouthing off their own opinions openly and influencing the general public.everyone is suppose to be allowed to have rights..we see that everywhere we look so why not you ? its not right to bash one persons thoughts but put up with so many others in our society .
im from north Carolina my family settled there in the 1600s from Scotland , we then moved to sask in 1920. we have many multi cultures in my family so no one dare mentions racial issue here !
I hope that our good sask people are smart enough not to bash others without fully knowing the lineage and knowledge behind things..i think we are a great bunch of people and aren't hate filled nor leave hate messages, good luck with your rights. not many have their own rights anymore in this world.
