As residents of Pope Valley, California, fled their homes to escape wildfires they left behind a sign that read: “Attention Scum, You Loot We Shoot.”
KRON 4 reports that the sign was discovered on September 15. It was posted without attribution “at the border of Pope Valley and Middletown where residents say there is real concern over someone taking advantage of their misfortune.”Middletown resident Richard Woita stressed that residents who were able to stay behind will be keeping their eyes open. He said, “We put out the word. You know, the people who are left here just look out for one another.”

Similar signs appeared in our town during/after the fires of 2003 & 2007, Ramona Cali. Not an original thought for this one just as I am sure our signs were not original.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine who lives a crows flight 800 yards from me actually chased off some would be looters with a shotgun in hand and a pistol on his hip in the 2007 fires when the town was told to evacuate.....some of us didn't....including the looters.
We have a bit of an informal NPT in my hood.

Thanks and I remember the Fallbrook fire, but don't remember what year, although I do have pictures.
DeleteI used to live in Middletown about 30 years ago. At that time the people there were all pretty much armed with a no nonsense attitude towards life in general. Glad to see that not much has changed.
ReplyDeleteGood deal and thanks.
