During the last two weeks, US Defense Watch has been reporting on Representative Steve Russell’s request on September 15th for the Ranger School records of the first two female graduates, Captain Kristen Griest and First Lieutenant Shaye Haver. It is not known whether or not Congressman Russell has asked for the records for Major Lisa Jaster, who graduated today from Ranger School.

Russell’s request to Secretary of the Army, John McHugh, was at first delayed on September 24th, when McHugh asked for an extension, noting “privacy concerns” and time to compile the records together.

Nearly two weeks passed without Russell being informed when the records would be delivered to his office. When the Army finally contacted Russell they told him that many of the students’ records had been shredded.

What if the Army is covering up the fact that Griest and Haver and now Jaster never came within a mile of passing and were let through Ranger School, even though they should have been sent home?

  1. I hate to think of our own army doing a crass cover up like that. The whole PC culture has really polluted the morals of our country.

  2. Do you really think it matters?

    1. We aren't at war with anyone (despite all that killing going on in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan). So, it's not like these women will make a difference doing anything in their careers, with or without Ranger tabs.
    2. The military is a fat bloated bureaucracy and has plenty of room to carry weaker people along. This is true of any large organization. it doesn't make the military weaker. The strong parts of the military stay strong and the weak parts stay weak and most parts stay "good enough".
    3. There are still plenty of MEN in the Army to get the job done, so what difference does a few vanity ranger tabs make?
    4. No one who is paying attention is fooled. Anyone who has been to Ranger school KNOWS.
    5. These three women graduates are indeed among the best women in the Army and they are WAY ahead of majority of single moms using the military as a welfare net. And they were way out is front before they went to Ranger school and everyone who knew them knew that. So, no real changes.
    6. Establishing conditions to let a handful of women graduate for political reasons doesn't do anything to make Ranger school easy enough for average women, or even top 95% of women, to graduate it.
    7. Everyone who has served in the Army at any time for the past 30 years knows that the military is 100% PC and expects this sort of thing and knows to keep their mouths shut about it. It is just the way things are.

    1. Unfair to the men who failed who might have become Rangers with the help they evidently received.

    2. You have forgotten what "fair" means. The men got exactly what they deserved. Nothing more. The women got more than they deserved. The men also new that was going to happen. Nothing happened that was not totally expected. No men were cut just to make room for the women. It's not like there is a quota or limit of Ranger Tabs to hand out each year. making the standard lower for everyone helps no one. For men, the value of the Ranger tab is in the achievement, not the award. And empty tab would have no value. The three women might be a little self delusional (most women are) about their accomplishment, but everyone else knows their tab has an asterisk. They still aren't going to be taken seriously.

Just like gay "marriage". When two women tell you they are legally married, it is still OK to roll your eyes.

    3. This would be an excellent topic for a debating society.

  3. I had a gut level feeling that the fix was in, when the whole matter of letting women into combat roles as announced. It was a given that there would be female rangers. Reality must never interfere with a PC theory. What they do not realize is, the day is coming when the female rangerettes will have to go out into harms way as if they were real Rangers, (which they are not). Oh Yeah, I have seen female soldiers in other nations militaries, and ours is the one of the few that makes our female soldiers look very unfeminine. It is possible to be a woman in uniform and still look feminine, but I am sure that the PC PTB will have none of that.

Yes and I have seen many. Some of the Kurds come to mind.

  4. It's like Affirmative Action; the results are always questionable. That is unfortunate for those minority participants that really did make the grade without fudging the results. Of course, the shredding further clouds already murky waters.

      Something Nixon didn't do. :)

  5. The Secretary of the Army needs his records shredded so that when he decides to draw that government pension he has nothing to show for all his "troubles".
