First-hand, eyewitness audio testimony of one person's
perspective on what happened to LaVoy Finicum on January 26, 2016. The
witness you're going to hear was in the car with LaVoy, Ryan Payne, Ryan
Bundy, and Shawna Cox.
There were multiple cameras on this event and we will see in the coming weeks whether he was surrendering or not. From his earlier statements of "I am not going to jail" I lean toward not. So far the one "eyewitness" admits she was asleep up until the stop and then laying in the floorboard of the truck during the shooting yet she saw what happened outside. I think Lavoy was an honest and sincere man who did not deserve to die for his beliefs. You can help his family by purchasing his book. http://www.amazon.com/Only-Blood-Suffering-Regaining-Freedom-ebook/dp/B014901Q8Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453946553&sr=8-1&keywords=Lavoy+finicum
Don't be too hasty. We outsiders almost NEVER know what really happened. The Black community still thinks Michael Brown was shot with his hands up even after the evidence clearly showed that was not the case. Initial news reports of major events are always wrong.
And finally, "hands up" is not the universal gold standard for surrender, nor is a white flag. If a large angry man is charging at you wrapped in white and his hands are in the air, he is still a threat and he is getting closer every second. Nor is "unarmed" synonymous with innocent or harmless.
As I replied elsewhere: even if he was charging the squad? of cops, he wasn't armed and they obvious could have used tasers, but chose to kill him instead.
If they had tasers. Another thing we don't know. They chose to "make him stop" doing what he was doing. That resulted in his death. All we really know is: 1, the guy is dead. 2. We know the approximate location where it happened. Everything else is unknown and will not become known until later.
It is surprising that the police have not released a statement yet. They seem to release all sorts of statements about other events.
The should have had them as well as body cameras or do they consider themselves better than cops who have them? The cop who came to my door was attacked by a neighbor's large German Shepherd, but he calmly maced him and he would have been more of a danger that the 55 year old unarmed man charging? a group of heavily armed men. Unless they are pussies, then they chose to kill him.

This is how much the overton window has shifted. We are discussing whether the police state is justified in shooting to death an unarmed man whose crime was standing up to tyranny. http://freenorthcarolina.blogspot.com/2016/01/cliven-bundy-fbi-murdered-oregon_27.html#comment-form
If you are using words like "overton window", you have already lost. Tasers have a very limited range. They are best used on drunks and hippies.
My comment is, we don't know. Wait and see. How can that possibly be bad advice? The American people are being played in how we react to this. There is obviously MORE video that has not yet been released.
