The
N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will hold the second of five public
hearings to take comments on proposed temporary rules regarding black
bear hunting tonight at the Craven County Courthouse Annex.
The public hearing begins at 7 p.m., in District Courtroom #4, at 302 Broad St., in New Bern.
In
early February, the Commission voted to start the temporary rulemaking
process for black bear hunting. All five public hearings will focus on
potentially extending the time that bears can be taken with the aid of
unprocessed food as bait to the entire open season.
Comments can be submitted online, emailed to regulations@ncwildlife.org
or mailed to N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, 1701 Mail Service
Center, Raleigh, N.C. 27699-1701. The deadline for comments is April 12.
Horrors! Unprocessed food?? Can they use seasonings?
ReplyDelete:) I've never had bear meat unfortunately, have you?
DeleteI did a few times after my brother went bear hunting up in Canada.
DeleteIs it tough?
DeleteThe taste is a little strong but the meat is not so tough. That was roughly 30 years ago.
DeleteThanks. I'll see if I can get that as a hot, spicy curry when I go back to Vietnam. Thanks.
DeleteYes, several years ago. Not as good as beef - but would eat it again if hungry! Most of the meat from the hunts up here in Jersey are butchered and donated to the food banks. Several hundred are taken every year. We have a lot of them.
ReplyDeleteI see and thanks If it isn't tough, I Imagine you could make a hot curry out of it.
