Compatriots,
Great news from the VA regarding headstones for Confederate Veterans. VA regulations have been changed that allows for any individual to apply for a headstone or marker for veterans.
We no longer have to have a direct relative apply for a marker with the VA. Effective April 1, 2016 - per paragraph 38.600(a)(1)(vi) . . . which allows for "any individual" to apply for a headstone or marker for veterans whose service ended prior to April 6, 1917, or for an individual whose eligibility is base on such service."
Here is the link to the VA decision.

As part of reconciliation after the Civil War Congress passed legislation guaranteeing Confederate veterans the same rights and privileges as Union veterans including the right to burial in national military cemeteries.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, but there has been a problem since Obama came with tombstones, but looks like that has been resolved.
