This version has the wrong Van Zandt on vocals-Ronnie's little brother tries-but he just ain't got the pipes. Great band for this version though-Hughie Tomasson from The Outlaws,Ricky Medlocke from Blackfoot-big names in '70's "southern rock". Michael Cartellone never made sense to me for a Skynyrd drummer-he came from a band called Damn Yankees and was more of a hard rock drummer.
From Wikipedia... "Damn Yankees was an American rock supergroup formed in 1989, consisting of Tommy Shaw of Styx, Jack Blades of Night Ranger, Ted Nugent of The Amboy Dukes and a successful solo career, and Michael Cartellone (then an unknown drummer who would later join Lynyrd Skynyrd).
Cartellone is from NE Ohio-about 15 minutes from where I live now, actually met him and talked to him a few times-he used to eat dinner in a restaurant in Chagrin falls,Ohio I was the chef at frequently.
Anyhow-better version-(RIP Ronnie Van Zandt,Steve Gaines,Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray)-
