Jim DeMint is the Forrest Gump of the Tea Party. He's been everywhere from the halls of Congress to the beating heart of the modern conservative movement at the Heritage Foundation. But after the better part of two decades, DeMint says it's all for naught.

"I've finally realized the most important truth of our time," DeMint said in a Monday press release. "Washington, D.C. will never fix itself." And so with that mindset, the fiery former South Carolina senator and Heritage president got himself a new job.

DeMint just signed on with the Convention of the States Project as a senior advisor. His goal is nothing short of redrafting the Constitution.

  1. A Convention of States will be rigged if run by anyone with an inkling of a political affiliation. It needs to be done by those interested from the general public. I don't see this happening, but when I close my eyes and see the beltway around Washington, I see a lot of rope cast over the light standards.

  2. I have seen this before. It is well-intentioned enough. The main error with it is that it takes a lot of arrogance to think you can improve on the original. And it takes a lot of naivete to think that judges and leftist politicians can't twist your words to anything they want, or just ignore your new constitution completely. Just like they do with the current one.

There is nothing wrong with the current constitution that cannot be fixes by following it.

Yes, but getting it done is the problem.

  3. if the convention of states goes ahead it will destroy the constitution. there is no way the conservatives would have the slightest chance of controlling it.

this is part of the one world group to gut the constitution. I know a lot of big "conservative names" are for this and that should tell you what they really are. they are the enemy. DeMint and Mark Levin are not on the side of conservatives, they are nudging you to go over the same cliff as the progressives are while trying to make it sound like it is a conservative idea.

A draft that I saw virtually eliminated the 2A. No brainer.

  4. the convention of states project is a progressive trap. it will allow the progressives to destroy the constitution in it's entirety. Mark Levin and Demint are shills for the one world group. Don't believe that they are conservative. their support for this alone is proof that they are the enemy.
