Peters is the one who needs to go. Just another war mongerer.
Tucker Carlson found himself compared to the aviation hero and fascist sympathizer Charles Lindbergh Tuesday.
And no, it had nothing to do with trans-Atlantic flights.
It all started when Fox News contributor Ralph Peters took issue with The Daily Caller co-founder asking how Russian President Vladimir Putin is a threat to America’s interests. “You sound like Charles Lindbergh in 1938 saying ‘Hitler hasn’t attacked us,’” Peters told Carlson.
Unsurprisingly, the Hitler reference infuriated the Fox News host who made the sober assertion, “I don’t think Putin is comparable to Hitler.” Peters disagreed, saying Putin “is as bad as Hitler.”
The two continued fighting over how America should operate in the world, with Carlson demanding answers as to how Russia, Iran and the Assad regime in Syria are serious threats to America. Peters argued that they were, and indicated America should use military options to seek regime change in all three countries.

I watched that sparring match. Peters is an idiot who came across as a rabid dog foaming at the mouth. Peters also babbled incoherently and when Tucker countered an argument or point, Peters switched gears and went off chasing rabbits in another direction. It was obvious that Peters arguments were based on his agenda and not facts, thus the deflection by him at the end of almost every paragraph that jaggedly spurted from his mouth.
ReplyDeleteHe makes me sick.
DeleteWhile I do respect the views expressed by Ralph Peters, I must part company with him regarding Russia. I would strongly encourage Mr. Peters to read and then re-read Gen Butler's classic book, War is a Racket. As I see it, many of the problems and challenges facing the USA today are due to, we don't have the wisdom to know when to mind our own affairs and leave other nations alone. Our hubris is and will be our downfall. We have the arrogance to presume we can dictate to other nations how they are to conduct their internal affairs. Our hypocrisy is devoid of any shame, as we proclaim lofty and noble excuses for our unwanted interventions, all the while the real reason is self serving economic ones. They have natural resources we want/make a profit off of, and we are willing to kill as many as it takes to get it. The United Fruit Company in Central America comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteWe will anoint ourselves are the great champions of "Human rights" and democracy, only promptly abandon them when it comes up hard against our financial self interests. Case in point Saudi Arabia; we will ignore their human rights violations, so long as they keep the oil flowing.
As for Iran, I am as big of a critic of them as the next guy. However it does need to be pointed out that it was our own CIA, who engineered the overthrow of their own elected leader and replaced him with the Shah. So the Iranians do have a cause to be pissed off at us.
We have forgotten that Russian history and culture goes back a very long time. We have forgotten the high price they paid in blood, suffering a treasure to defeat the Nazis. Being an ally of the USA can get you betrayed, abandoned or killed. It maybe difficult for our leaders to understand the concept, that Putin WILL honor and keep the pledges and treaties made to Assad. So my question; is being butt hurt over another nation not doing what we want them to, worth going to war over? We can not save the world and make it in our own image, nor does the world want to be saved by us.
And no, Putin is NOT as bad as Hitler. Putin has yet to start a world war, not has he set up concentration camps. We do have interests that overlap with Putin and should be seeking to find ways to work WITH him. If any one is "as bad as Hitler" it is the Muslim Imams who have declared Jihad (aka war) on the rest of humanity, with the goal of world domination. We have a common enemy; Islam. The Jihadi views us and the Russian as their enemy. Mr. Peters, would you kindly pull you head out of your ass. Should the Russians become our enemies again, it will be in part, our own damn fault. We had the chance to make the Russians our partner and ally, and promptly blew it.
Great comment and Butler mentioned the United Fruit Company in his speech as I remember.

I have never understood why anyone would take our word after Vietnam.
