Have A Death Wish?
Texas police academy instructor is letting
protesters know that any gun owner in Texas can use deadly force to stop
vandalism, destruction, or the defacing of any monuments or statues in
Texas.
“As a police officer and police academy instructor, I am posting this as a public service announcement.”

What a police academy instructor says is IRRELEVANT. What matters is what THE LAW says. So don't take his advice. READ THE LAW. I suspect Texas law is essentially the same as most other states in that the use of deadly force is reserved for protection of life and health. NOT for punishing vandals. Nobody should make the mistake of taking the legal advice of a cop. The DA won't care and WILL prosecute.
ReplyDeleteHe listed the relevant statutes.
DeleteWould YOU want to be the test case? Many a good citizen has been ruined by a zealous DA with an agenda regardless of how obvious their innocence. And Texas law does NOT preclude a federal prosecution for civil rights violations.

DeleteThere should only be state laws, period. Vote with your feet.
This calls to mind an apt quote:

Indeed. A favorite quote & bring back dueling and see how wise-asses sudden don't say much.
