The Republican Party got its butt kicked Tuesday night in the Virginia governor's race. To hear the Democrat media tell it, it was the bell tolling for thee, you disgusting, deplorable dullards who are supporters of that revolting MAGA maggot in the White House. But mind you now, we are seeing all these demonstrations of extravagant electoral glee from the very same folks who were all but suicidal a year ago this time, when their shoe-in winner got an unexpected shoe in her wide electoral fanny.
Just as they were excessively overwrought then, so are they now far too giddily optimistic regarding the portents of these recent results. To hear them tell it, one could easily believe that the 2018 elections are all but a done deal for the Dems and that we deplorables may as well stay home on Election Day 2018.
Actually, I believe that's what happened in Virginia yesterday: the Republican establishment ran one of their favorites, an unfortunately lackluster lobbyist who was so uninspiring that he couldn't manage a simple majority in the party primary, pulling in only 43% of that vote. What percentage of that other 57% do you suppose stayed home yesterday rather than bother to go vote for this unexceptional party hack they had already rejected in the earlier race?

What the talkers in the national media ignore is the effect of the loss at the local level. The Democrats (Socialists) may control the General Assembly, and with that, statues come down, social justice goals are pushed and other insidious laws are passed. It is a major defeat.
ReplyDeleteYes and as I mentioned on https://freenorthcarolina.blogspot.com/2017/11/kassam-republican-swamp-got-loss-they.html
DeleteTrue, but doesn't explain the many Virginia House of Delegate seats the Dems won. Foreboding for next year unless the R's get off their butts. As someone stated the other day, the R's might as well give the D's the majority if they don't pass legislation as they will lose it next year anyway.
2018 Generic Congressional Vote Democrats +9.8
Can't ignore the fact that Virginia was invaded by foreign immigrants from the third world, expansion of the DC government sector, and the flight of economic refugees from the northern socialist states. All of those groups are known strong left members. A real demographic shift that can't be undone short of exporting about a million people.

Good points
DeleteThis reminds me of when Bob Dole became the Republican candidate for President.
ReplyDeleteEverybody suspected collusion between the Republican and Democrat parties, as everyone knew Bob Dole was the worst possible candidate.
In other words, the Republican Party deliberately threw that Presidential election.
That same Republican Party today is doing all they can to sabotage and/or impede everything and anything being offered by President Trump.
Thanks.
DeleteGillespie is a SWAMP RAT. He campaign was staffed by "never Trumpers" and it was only late in the race he tried to align himself with a man he was unlikely to support, President Trump.
ReplyDeleteIf we truly want hope to fix what is wrong with the country we had better brace ourselves for more losses by SWAMP RAT RINOS like Gillespie. If insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result, then continuing to support and vote for a jackass in an elephant suit isn't an option.
Yes, the RINOS will always come out and claim the need to "moderate", aka sell out, so they can get elected, but it leave me asking who should we elect them if they are going to drive down the road towards serfdom, just not ask fast as the democraps?
I didn't and will not support candidates like Tillis and Burr, every. As in the last election, I'll simply write in Mickey Mouse and move on to the section of the ballot.
Y'all have a nice day.
100% and we could write in each other's name if necessary next time!:)
