President Trump said Saturday it’s a “shame” former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn lied to his administration and the FBI because “there was nothing to hide.”
“I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI,” the president tweeted, before referring to the news Friday that Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in January about his contacts with the Russian ambassador.
“He has pled guilty to those lies," Trump added. "It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!”
