Top 10 Reasons We LOVE the South!

4 comments:

  1. Back when younger, my wife and I loved to travel. We have driven the country from east to west and north to south. From Minnesota to Louisiana and North Carolina to California. And yes, some of the western states are nice. We loved to travel the south. Every state made us feel at home. We except for one, Florida. Far too many transplants from New York and New Jersey. Those people are just unpleasant.

We drove along the gulf coast a couple of years before Katrina. It broke our hearts to see the destruction. Some of the most beautiful areas gone. I remember stopping in either Gulfport or Biloxi. There was an ice-cream stand along 90. We got a couple cones, walked to the beach, sat on one of the benches, and watch the gulf. A nice breeze blowing off the water. Just one of hundreds of wonderful memories traveling the south.

I went to Miami for a wedding and indeed the main thing I noticed was the rudest and traffic! :) :(

Wish I could have enjoyed them with you. Need to visit.

    2. Florida does have too many Yankee transplants, Badger. Sadly, North Carolina is getting them as well. The rich retired ones come to the mountains (my paradise) in the summer and head to Miami in the winter. The young professionals leave mommy and daddy in the north after high school and start their "visit" to the Tar Heel state by attending bastions of Liberalness like UNC, Wake Forest, Duke. Then they settle down in the Millennial Meccas of Cary, Chapel Hill and other environs near the "Research triangle". I'm sure Brock would agree were seeing red turning blue rapidly.
