Scalawag Sessions: 'Slavery' alone caused the Civil War
Via Billy
Should be Challenged at dawn. (I have backed him until today, but no more.)
Jeff Sessions, a son of the South and President Trump’s attorney
general, celebrated former President Abraham Lincoln’s 209th birthday
with a blunt and bold statement that clashes with some of his fellow
Alabamians and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.

------------------------- For lincoln, slavery was an afterthought, in fact, lincoln was willing to let slavery remain legal.. sessions is either grossly uneducated or willfully ignorant of the facts or a pathological lying psychopath.. we know he's a proven pathological lying psychopath and you can't trust a word that comes out of his mouth. -------------------------
How does AG Sessions explain Mr. Lincoln's offer to the seceded states to make slavery legal in perpetuity (forever)upon their return?* He did not offer any reduction in the monstrous tariff. The seceded states were not interested. *This offer was stated in Lincdoln's First Inaugural Address.
Brock, I'm with you on this one. I was willing to cut him some slack, but he just showed he's a ignoramus. He also blatantly showed his support for Big Gov.com. Moar gov please! DixieDennis
To the belief that 'Slavery alone caused the Civil War', my response is - Nonsense! It is a Lie which many want to believe is true, as it give a very simple answer for which no thinking is required and comforting. It is presented as a sporting event. Team Blue are the good guys. Team Grey are the bad guys. The war was a just war, good vs. evil. The war ended the way it was supposed to end with the good guys winning. Lincoln is the larger than life great man, a Messiah type who saved the day and the Union. We have a (false) narrative of the war, which mirrors your average network crime drama. You know how it will end. No matter how cleaver the villain is, your hero will always win in the end.
But such a view means one has to willfully be ignorant of the background, context and history that lead up to the war. It means one does not have to think. Or deal with questions and situations that are morally ambiguous. And now for THE thought crime, the 800 pound gorilla in a blaze orange hunters uniform in the room: What if the South had a legitimate grievance against the Northern States AND they did have the Right to secede from the Union, with just cause? Nope we can not have that at all. It would raise that most dreaded of questions; Could I be wrong about the matter?

I thought Sessions was better educated, and perhaps he may be. But that statement shows either an appalling ignorance, or cowardice. And neither is acceptable. It is possible Jeff Sessions is simply ignorant of the facts, which I find unlikely. It is more probable he is a coward. He knows the truth but is unwilling to say it. He fears being called a racist.
Once again, we see a republican cower in fear over what the media might say. Yet, his boss, President Trump has demonstrated repeatably how to beat them. Ignore their comments, go directly to the people, and bypass the media filter.
When I went to school (in the olden days), I was taught that slavery was the whole cause of the civil war. Then I got out into the real world and learned the truth. It seems that Sessions is either willfully ignorant or a closet liberal loon.

DeleteAn inconvenient truth.
POS Sessions needs to go...NOW!
ReplyDeleteFully agree.
DeleteSessions has fooled a lot of people for a lot of years. Heck, I bet he even set Senator McCain's head spinning with this revelation.
ReplyDeleteSad.
