The last place one might expect to hear pushback against the National Rifle Association would be at a gun show here, a western suburb of Chicago that reliably votes Republican every election cycle and is the proud home of the Billy Graham Center Museum.
But at
the DuPage County Fairgrounds on Sunday, a man selling ammunition, DVDs,
military books and a few handguns leaned across his table and said
that, as a lifelong NRA member, he isn’t on board with everything the
organization stands for.
“I disagree with some
of their viewpoints,” said Mitchell Flesner, 67. After the mass shooting
in Parkland, Fla., last month that left 17 people dead, Flesner said he
would like the NRA to support some kind of regulation that forces
teenagers — like 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, who authorities charged with
the killings — to get parental permission before they are allowed to buy
AR-15 military-style rifles.

As most who visit here already know, the focus is purposefully on guns and as we all know, guns are not the problem. Almost every boy I knew growing up hunted before and after school whenever they could and none of them ever shot anyone.
ReplyDeletenone of them ever shot anyone.
DeleteNo issue at all.
What do you expect? The President of the United States. J. Donald Trump PUBLICLY called for confiscation, and then PUBLICLY told Schumer and Feinstein that he "Will sign any gun control law you can pass", and the brain dead "Right" still supports him. That was it. GAME OVER. Both sides are starting to reach critical mass. With the left starting to smell the blood in the water. The republic is about to end in a spectacular orgy of violence. It will end that way because nether side believes that the other has the will to fight. The left and the right hate each other to the point of genocide, and Trump is the "Honest Abe" of our time. He WILL take the guns, and persecute a civil war to do it. He is FAR more dangerous to our freedoms than Obama ever was.---Ray
ReplyDeleteJust be quiet and watch. Then read "The Art of the Deal".
DeleteI'd rather not here from anymore brain dead Trump supporters. The man said "Confiscate now. Don't wait for the court. They take too long" He later told the worst enemy America has ever face that "I will sign any gun law you pass". That was It. GAME OVER. He lost us forever. Anyone who believes this rat bastard Neo-Con is "on our side" is an Idiot or a deep state neo-con.--Ray
DeleteThe slippery slope eventually leads to a place that the naïve victim never imagined they'd wind up in. In addition once there there's no turning back.
ReplyDeleteGood point.
