Been trying to find out where John Bell Hood's amputated leg was buried. We know that Stonewall's
are has a rock marker, on a plantation not where he died.
The reports say that Hood's leg was sent with him as it was believed he would not survive such an amputation of the thigh area. Apparently, it is thought to be buried in Tunnel Hill, Georgia.
Whatever can be said of Hood, he was a man of great personal courage.

P.S. I first read about John Bell Hood in Mary Chestnut's Diary of Dixie when he was mentioned recuperating in Richmond, Virginia. Life after the War left his many children orphaned due to the Yellow Fever which killed his wife, himself and at least one child.
