Two young Vietnamese girls and their escort (right, at table)
bear mute testimony to the violence of the Viet Cong bombs which
destroyed the My Canh floating restaurant here June 25th. They were
having supper when the terrorist blasts snuffed out 42 lives and wounded
more than 80 persons in and near the boat-restaurant.

Fortunately, all the times we went and there were many, there were no problems.
My wedding party on the My Canh.
Their earthen bowl with brown rice and goodies was my favorite.
Wedding: Co, Me and Thuy! The latter camouflaged by her hair. :)
I ate there once.
ReplyDeleteI had the frog legs.
Some guys from my unit, the Phu Lam Signal Battalion, were killed in that bombing.
In the photograph, I notice the Military Police is wearing a Class "B" (i.e., khaki) uniform.
But, when I was there, only jungle fatigues were authorized.
The exception was the Vietnamese civilian airport terminal when I was going to Israel, when I was required to purchase and wear mufti (i.e., civilian clothing).
Also, each time I went on Rest and Recuperation leave, mufti was required.
When going to the United States, we were issued Class "B" uniforms in Da Nang, which upon arrival at Fort Lewis, Washington, were exchanged for the Class "A" (i.e., AG 344 dress green) uniform.
They've got some big frog legs in Vietnam. Fry them in butter and garlic.
