I'm currently reading a book on kindle (Amazon) called "The Terrace Builders: the Hani and their Neighbors in Yunnan's Ailao Mountains" by Jim Goodman.
Also interesting, to me, is how some Cambodian architecture resembles the Borgund Stave Church of Norway, which I suspect is a remnant of Nordic pagan architecture: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borgund_Stave_Church
