I've always admired lever action rifles going back to my boyhood TV hero, Lucas McCain, "The Rifleman". But as of yet, I've not acquired one. I am considering one chambered in .357 mag as a companion truck rifle to my .357 mag revolver. --Ron W
I'm seriously thinking about ordering the rifle. I need something to spend my social security payment on. I almost bought a Quigley Sharps when the came out a couple decades ago, but as pretty as it was it also wasn't correctly outfitted as in the movie. The picture at Cabela's showed a receiver sight instead of a tang sight and the front sight was missing the hood. This 1876 looks like a period correct beauty.......
The transition pistols are a neat piece of interim engineering making use of existing technology and adapting to new. Add me to the list of lever-gun fans as well. Dear Santa...
They are nice, and only $2000.00 for the rifle and $600.00 for a used pistol. At 4 to 5 dollars a shot for the shell brass (More IF you can find loaded ammo) its real cheap to crack off to. Unless it is chambered in .45-70 or a "modern" cal. NOBODY is making loaded ammo for the old BP guns on any large scale. You MIGHT get a few rounds from "old western scrounger" or one of the other re-loaders of 19th century oddball's at 80 to 100 dollars + a box. But you won't find it often and it won't be cheap. Go look up your Cal. BEFORE you buy. The prices might cool you off a lot.--Ray
