When I was on alert, I read the the Gulag Archipelago in paperback.it was about three inches thick. I had previously read other books of his which need to be read in the original Russian to fully understand his sadness with his country. I believe anyone enamored with socialism and communism should read him. and, from what I have read from multiple sources; he is correct in his assessment about the Russian people not loving freedom enough...it is difficult to choose between guns and butter when you don't know what butter is.
