Remember those pro-Confederate television shows?

In this age of political correctness 1984 it may surprise people that there were three TV series that portrayed Confederates in a good light. All three are very good and all the episodes of two of the series are available on DVD, and some of the episodes of the other series is available.

The first series is Yancy Derringer. Yancy Derringer is a gentleman, adventurer and gambler. He is a former Confederate Army captain who has returned to New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1868, three years after the end of the War, during Reconstruction. The state is under Union control and martial law.

Widely respected by all parts of New Orleans society as a Southerner who never surrendered, Derringer is recruited by the Federal City Administrator, John Colton, to work as a secret agent at no pay and only Colton knows of his special role.

  1. I think Johnny Yuma's double barreled shotgun was a little under today's legal length. But then he didn't have to concern himself with the ATF. Unfortunately, we're still dealing with the effects of unconstitutional "Federal Reconstruction". --Ron W

  2. Use to watch 'The Rebel' when replays appeared many yrs. ago.
One of my favorites. Today, I wouldn't watch the brainwashing
garbage with freaks for entertainment, lacking depth and imagination. Back in the sixties when Bonanza, Virginian,
Big Valley, The Rebel, there was one commercial for each thirty
minute side, the shows being an hour long.
Just like when the Civil War stamps the post office sold came
out, there was no pic of the Confederate flag. How can there be
a pic of the Civil War without a Confederate flag but yet there
is a pic of the Union flag. What a joke for a society. I asked
the clerk where is the Confederate flag - chicken shit said
    nothing.

  3. Another that shows the Confederacy in a good light is "Rawhide". The trail boss, Gil Favor, fought for the South as did a lot of the drovers. These were honorable men and this is depicted in many episodes. My wife and I drop everything and watch the show every Saturday at 3:00 PM on MeTV. It's one of our favorites............

    2. I don't think that it's online, but a lot of areas in NC carry it on digital over the air channels or on cable. Go to the link and type in your zipcode and it will tell you where to pick it up in your area.

  4. It's a movie, but The a Outlaw Josey Wales was a Confederate, one of my favorites. As Commanche Chief Ten Bears said, "we know who you are, you are the Gray Rider who would not make peace with the blue coats." --Ron W
