“I
have nothing to say, only that I am innocent, and will die like a man,
my hopes being in the future. I go before my God, the Almighty God, and
he will judge between me and you.” Henry Wirz 10 November 1865
Wirz reportedly said to the officer in charge, “I know what orders are, Major. I am being hanged for obeying them.” He had nothing to work with, no resources to lighten the prisoners burden unlike Eisenhower's Death Camps who had resources but pure sadism was at work.
Like Epstein, He didn't HANG HIMSELF! ;-)
