Madam Speaker, no more delay on US-Mexico-Canada free trade deal

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is running out of excuses for delaying a vote on the United States Canada Mexico Trade Agreement. After more than a year of wrangling and debating, this bill would pass with bipartisan support, and Washington could hold a rare and joyous bill signing ceremony as a gift to the American people a few days before Christmas.

The benefits of USMCA are well established and generally accepted by scholars on both sides of the political aisle. It could increase American jobs by some 170,000 and increase growth by 0.35 percent over several years when implemented, according to the International Trade Commission. It could be a boon for Mexico and Canada. This trade deal also would set the stage for additional free trade agreements to come, for example, with Japan, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Finally, it would strengthen the United States as Washington labors to deliver a win in the trade disputes with China, as it would continue to isolate China as the bad actor on the international scene.

  1. Most Democrats opposed NAFTA and wanted it ended or "re-negotiated" for which Obama campaigned, but never did. But the Clinton and Clinton, the Bush's and Obama were globalists so it was passed and stayed. Finally Trump did what most or many Democrats and pro-American Republicans have long supported, but now "their leader" resists. Maybe she'll finally have to relent. It's globalism vs America First. That's probably the real reason the establishment, deep state and media hate Trump so much. They were well on their way to subverting our Republic to a socialist/fascist New World Order. --Ron W
