I think the Democrats' strategists are resigned to losing to Trump in November, and seek mainly to preserve their viability down-ticket and in future elections. That suggests that they're hard at work on a way to torpedo the candidacy of Bernie Sanders, who'd render them as dead as the Whigs should he get the nomination. Stay tuned.
