FBI Threatens Shutdown of Gun Purchase Background Checks as Massive Surge in Sales Creates Backlog

Via Billy

A 300% spike in gun purchases has overwhelmed the FBI office in charge of the National Instant Background Criminal Background Check System, leading to them considering temporarily shutting down in some areas.

A shutdown of the system would stop or delay new gun sales.

  1. Typical government response. They cant keep up with their duties, so instead of working longer hours to catch up, they just stop doing their jobs.

    1. As we both well know. I like to say, just like the fishermen piece, that 10% of government employees do 90% of the work.

    2. IIRC Jordan Peterson had a quote that the main work in an organization is done by the square root of the people who work there.

      I'd believe it.

  2. Google or Amazon would have built an algorithm and done the checks with no human interaction except to keep the cooling fans running on the computers! Am I the only one that suspects that this whole situation is biological warfare?

  3. Looks like Corona virus is about to dethrone Obama as the best gun-salesman in modern American history.

    1. I mentioned that at the gun shop yesterday. Strange that the only reason I am buying now is because two of my guns were stolen.

  4. My FFL had many partial shutdowns this week on NICS. It took me an hour wait with him on the phone to do yesterdays transfer....crazy. And there were others in front of me so this was a half day thing.

    1. No problem when I filled out the form two days in a row.

  5. A right delayed, is a right denied. This is one of the best arguments against NICS in general and the concept of "Universal Background Checks" in particular. If your rights can be cancelled just by shuttering one GOV office then that's a problem. At least for now most US citizens can still purchase from private sellers without having to become criminals.

Absolutely but not according to liberals.
