Governments love crises because when the people are fearful they are more willing to give up freedoms for promises that the government will take care of them. After 9/11, for example, Americans accepted the near-total destruction of their civil liberties in the PATRIOT Act’s hollow promises of security.
It is ironic to see the same Democrats who tried to impeach President Trump last month for abuse of power demanding that the Administration grab more power and authority in the name of fighting a virus that thus far has killed less than 100 Americans.
Declaring a pandemic emergency on Friday, President Trump now claims the power to quarantine individuals suspected of being infected by the virus and, as Politico writes, “stop and seize any plane, train or automobile to stymie the spread of contagious disease.” He can even call out the military to cordon off a US city or state.

There is a lot of truth in that.
ReplyDeleteEveryone good on your end?
Thanks, just fine so far and hope you are also. Just re-checked my supplies and looks like they stole some ammo the last time but I've still got plenty, plus emergency food, stoves and two wells. A friend has a well where you can get water out with a bucket. I've been thinking for a good while that I should put a hand pump on one and they are about $500.
DeleteWhat a "real" GREAT President this man would have made, he would have worked diligently to Restore our Republic, there would have been no bump stock bans, or any other infringement on the Second Amendment, no bail outs for institutions to big to fail ... I have nothing but total respect for Dr. Ron Paul.
ReplyDeleteHis faded 2008 sticker is still visible on my mail box. He would have been the salvation of us all. :(
DeleteWhen this situation first started to arise, Trump said this was
ReplyDeletea hoax and much of the situation has been engineered.
They didn't get to do their "war games" in Europe so here
we are. I've been awaiting for some of THEM to come down
with the virus; they're mostly older and breathing the same air.
I hope 76 isn't consider older.....! :)
DeleteYes, it is - starting at 70, so they say.
DeleteWell, fiddle-dee-dee, quoth Scarlet. :)
