  5. Lived in Minnesota from about 1950 until 1990. It kept sliding into the political gutter further each year. Still have family and friends there but have absolutely no intention of living there again. They seem unable to learn from dysfunctional politics and policies. Reminds me too much of California and Colorado.

  6. I agree it could not happen to a better store. One white EBT card trash and a bunch of jungle people. Go figure. The usual customers of this store.

  7. I've been living in Minneapolis since 1987, and in my current house since '94' so do have some observations about the recent festivities here. I once had a Mpls. cop chick tell me that she considered herself a member of a para-military organization. Which was THE wrong to say to me, a retired vet. If that is how you view yourself, then it is only a matter of time before the "us versus them" mentality has the LEO looking at "them" as being the enemy, a threat. This para-military mindset has been encouraged by give police departments military equipment to the point where it can be very difficult to determine who is the soldier and who is the LEO. By the way, notice too that police officers have stopped referring themselves as being peace officers and now as law enforcement officers. This is a very different mindset.
Regarding the death of George Floyd, while racism maybe/ is a factor, I offer the following for consideration. The POS for an LEO was the type of guy who enjoyed in a position of power over others, whose sense of self and self-worth was based on "respect my authority or less" and believed his bright shiny badge DID grant him extra rights. And at the same time his ego was so very fragile that he could not and would not back down when Mr. Floyd and onlookers were pleading for him to take his knee off the neck. Nope, not going to happen. To have done so, would have been an admission of being wrong. The ego need to show who is in charge was to great. A man will do weapons grade stupidity, regardless of the outcome rather to humble himself and admit he was wrong. It is a classic example of "who are YOU to tell me what to do?" Same goes for his fellow cops partners. They IF they had any real traditional manhood and professionalism, they ought and should to have told that POS to back off, RNF, and get his knee off Mr. Floyd's neck, regardless of how it looked to the onlookers.
Forget racism. Mr. Floyd was denied his God given right to life. Mr. Floyd was denied his right under the supreme law of the land as an American citizen the right to due process under the law of THE Constitution. That is the only thing that matters to me. This man, this American citizen was deprived of his life for a crime that he was never formally charged with and guilty of, in a court of law, by a jury of, in accordance with the law, his PEERs, to warrant the death penalty.
