Rick has left a new comment on your post "Invasion of the New Normals":
I do not understand how any conservative minded person could be friends with those others. They are so far into the intellectual hinterlands they may as well be aliens. Yet they are tolerated, even to become friends.
These persons didn't radicalize overnight. Sure, in the example of the college student, they go just as you raised them but they return four years later barely recognizable: even censuring you as the chief antagonist in their measly lives. Even then the process took time measured in years.
It was your tolerance which diminished your ability to at least realize the seriousness of the matter if not altogether preventing you from seeing the change. You rationalized that it wasn't that bad, it is only a phase in them, they'll snap out of it. And when they didn't, nay, that they rallied ever more for 'the cause', you retreated to a forlorn remembrance of what once was. But you tolerated.
People terrorized, even murdered in cold blood. Stores looted, cities burned. Law enforcement taunted and pushed into retreat. Fear taking root in the people. Because they are tolerated.
Now we have whole generations infecting the country with that which we had formerly fought tooth and nail. And those generations were of us. I do not believe these are our last days. I believe in the strength of America. But Americans have to snap out of their stupor.
I had a more cogent yet longer writing but I lost my thought. This is all ya get for now.
