Your parents, grand-parents and people of our generation escaped from bullets and prisons of Communist Vietnam, risked our lives at seas, and lived in these refugee camps for months and years on end, because we lived through socialism and know its reality. One MILLION lives were lost at seas in this process.
Therefore, please stop lecturing us on progressivism and democratic socialism, after you have been brainwashed in schools. We have lived in stricken poverty, filty conditions, with rats and cockroaches infestation and diseases, just to be able to come to this great country; so, spare us your lecture on the poverty of inner city life. We have come to this country with nothing but the clothes on our back, with no money and little or no English skills, or knowldge of the trades, lived in 1/2-way houses in the inner cities; and so we worked as maids, garbage collectors, cashiers, waiting tables, Kmarts (your walmart’s predecessor) and any odd jobs to make a living and build our way up through hard work and savings.
Therefore, spare us your version about how disadvantaged minorities are in this country and “systemic oppression.” You have no idea what “true oppression” is like. We have been looked down upon, made fun of, and being called a chink/charlie, and most often times by blacks and hispanics; and yet, it never stopped us from working hard, in school and in life, to bring you up in safe, clean, privileged lives. So, please spare us your lectures on “systemic racism”, oppression, poverty, lacked of opportunities, disadvantaged, lacked of good education and schools, funding, welfare and support or a multitude of other excuses the left have brainwashed you to believe. The racist experience we endured are oftentimes from the people that you are seeking to protect. Understand that racism exists everywhere and in every culture! All you have to do is look back at your parents and grandparents, reflect, and know that they have endured all that you stated, and much much more; and yet, they still rise above and successfully moved on with their lives. Understand why most Vietnamese Americans are conservatives and fearful of socialist indoctrination, and the lies that they spew; and that’s because we lived it, experienced it, and suffered through it to give you what you now take for granted!
I taught myself a smattering of the Vietnamese language, enough to know what those televisions were saying in the back of every Vietnamese restuarant: "Remember Vietnam! Remember who you are!"
ReplyDeleteThe political atmosphere is tearing apart families. One of my wife's brothers was told by one of his sons that he should quit taking about Trump or he would leave, so his Father replied there's the door and take your dog with you.
DeleteI like Vietnamese people. In my experience, they're very nice, hard-working people. They have some awesome food, too.
ReplyDeleteFood,food, food! :)
DeleteWell said and should be shouted from the rooftops of every university in America.
ReplyDeleteLike the call to prayer, but those 'offended' might die of shock, which come to think of it, would be a plus. :)
DeleteIt's much like those young, progressive Cubanos who fail to remember that their parents fled Cuba, on trucks and anything else they could make float.
ReplyDeleteOr the progressive people of Jewish origin who have forgotten the lessons of the 1930's.
Infuriating. Thanks.
DeleteJust another manifestation of the elitism they have been sold via educational system - they think they know more about it than the people who lived it.
ReplyDeleteThey must have changed their brains.:)
DeleteThe public schools have been co-opted by the communists long ago because a free education provided by the state is a plank in the Communist Manifesto. The best defense against socialism is home or private schooling.
ReplyDeleteBut this is really a symptom of the fact that America has Christian roots and has forgotten the true source of her freedoms. A study of history will show that the default state of mankind is slavery. Christ came to set mankind free from the bondage of sin and only when individuals are free can a nation by the grace of God resist those given to evil and bent on the enslavement of others.

DeleteAmen and well said.
Dear Mr. Pham: THANK YOU for this post! I was a flight attendant in the 70s when so many Vietnamese and also Cambodians were coming to U.S. with their families, fleeing the tyranny in your home. I saw the shock and horror on your faces, it was heartbreaking. What some of you had gone thru just to come here to America was astounding and heartbreaking. I will always remember that. I couldn't imagine how you felt, I was born in America and never went thru what you did. Thank you for speaking out - I'm so sorry to hear that your nightmare didn't end when you got here, since now you have to deal with younger generations who want commununism. Stand strong and bless you for fighting this evilness in America - when we all stand together, we are more powerful than the evil tyrants and we WILL win this battle but it will take alot of courage. We ALL need to hear what you have to say, ever single American should hear what you experienced. I hope your children/grandchildren understand what you went thru and why you came here. Prayers for all in your family and community.
