On Thursday, Congressman Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) introduced legislation in the House of Representatives proposing a 10-year moratorium on all immigration into the United States.
Gosar’s remarks: In a statement released the following day, Gosar explained, “With millions of Americans including our veterans who are now unemployed, homeless, or living in poverty we need to take care of one another before we allow millions to migrate here. Time to pause migration to America and figure out how to put the American people first.”

A bill to prevent "immigration" for 10 years would by definition ONLY apply to LEGAL immigrants. We have MORE than enough laws on the books already to stop 100% of all ILLEGAL immigration. The problem of course being that those in power ignore any laws that don't serve their agenda. It is not and has NEVER been about what laws are passed. It's always been about corruption and the use/misuse/abuse of laws for agendas.
ReplyDeleteWe don't need legal immigrants either. All immigration has been bad for America and Americans. We should have slammed the borders shut in 1790 with the first census.
DeleteWhat a difference that would be today, though I would support legal immigration controlled 100%.
DeleteI think it should be 20 years. At the end of the 20 year period there should be a an English language proficiency test. AAMERICAN history test From the early twentieth century would be best Take a look at an 8th grade test (when you get the time).Failure of any test would result in the immediate return of the individual and ALL their dependents (If any) to their country of origin. With NO legal way to immigrate. In perpetuity.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteDisagree.....5 years....at MOST. If you can't learn English well enough to function in 5 years and if you can't get a job and support yourself within 5 years after coming here then you NEVER WILL. Had a girlfriend many years ago who's family fled the civil war in Beirut. In less than 5 years she spoke fluent English...in addition to 4 other languages....had become a certifed Respiratory Therapist and was supporting herself. And she did it WITHOUT being on welfare. I should have married her....but I was young and dumb.
DeleteAgree and have you kept track of her?
DeleteMy foreign wife went from LEARNING English at a local community place to TEACHING English there within a decade. Now she's in a doctoral program.
DeleteAmazing and thanks.
