Campers were broken up into groups and asked to write a stanza about
camp to be sung to the tune of Oh! Susanna. This is what they came up
with.
The Ballad of the Sam Davis Youth Camp- written by 2013 campers,
Chorus by Stan Clardy, to the tune of Oh! Susanna.
We learned to fire the cannons at the heathen Yankee hoard
We learned of Ol’ Sam Davis and we never did get bored.
We learned how to cast bullets and
We learned the Rebel Yell.
Our Honored Flag flies high and proud
We’ll never let it fail.
Chorus:
All around us, such a sight to see
We’re here at the Sam Davis Camp
To learn our History.
We shot them cardboard Yankees
With Southern lead and shot
Then patched them up with duct tape
To shoot them on the spot.
Chorus:
All around us, such a sight to see
We’re here at the Sam Davis Camp
To learn our History.
I come from somewhere in the South
And hold my head up high
Above the clouds of tyranny
From Northerners who lie
I saw more facial hair this week
Than in Duck Dynasty
And I trained to kill some Yankees
With my musket next to me.
Chorus:
All around us, such a sight to see
We’re here at the Sam Davis Camp
To learn our History.

It is such an inspiration to see young people enjoying themselves while learning the truth about our history. It saddens me to know what lies are taught in our yankee run schools.
ReplyDeleteAnd I loved the song. LOL at the facial hair joke.

DeleteIndeed and they have 7 hours of classroom a day, but eagerly wait for the next summer. The cream of the crop.

It saddens me to know what lies are taught in our yankee run schools.
It pisses me off to high heaven for starters.

And I loved the song.
I thought excellent.

LOL at the facial hair joke.
Dixie had to explain it to me.:) Of course many are re-enactors and/or appreciate being like their ancestors.
A very goodlooking bunch of young Southerners! Great song too!! They should youtube it. I'm also a huge fan of Duck Dynasty, so I got the joke. I've been to Monroe LA 3x for work since that is where our headquarters now reside. Good going Dixie!! I wish Evan had of went too.

Thanks and if something changes, please do come. Also, have Evan go next year. The campers love it and it is 7 hours of Southern history a day which says a lot.
